Mynhardt’s Restaurant brings Charity Christmas cheer with Festive Fruitcakes!

For the second year running I have been lucky to have received a delivery of a Festive Parcel from Chef Mynhardt Joubert’s Mynhardt Restaurant in Paarl. The aim of the delivery is to help publicise the good work Chef Mynhardt is doing in baking and selling the Christmas Fruitcakes, proceeds of which will go to support two charities: Butterfly House and Helpende Handjies.

In addition to sending a fully baked Christmas fruit cake, the festive parcel contained a host of ingredients as well as a recipe, so that recipients can bake one too. In addition, a Christmas wreath decorated the parcel delivered to my home, serving me well as an Advent wreath. A warm message from Chef Mynhardt accompanied the gift box. Continue reading →

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a day of 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞, warmer today than yesterday despite a lower temperature forecast; for a late movie night last night, with the luxury for not having to get up early this morning; for Joel my homeless cleaner coming back to work after a month’s absence, with all sorts of dramas where they live at Safe Space, mainly having their possessions stolen; for doing a deep clean at Glen Beach, at the Maiden’s Cove parking area, and really bad below the High School; for organizing a Beach Clean up for next Saturday, in honour of International Coastal Clean Up Day, together with Pick It Up run by Tracy Jackson and Rick Jackson; for a fabulous VitD snooze on the terrace all afternoon, getting a tan too; for another walk, through Bakoven, where I saw groups of youngsters walking towards Camps Bay without wearing masks 😷😱; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for all the glorious rain that has fallen since last night, with a happy garden, and it not being too chilly; for two walking gaps in between the rain, allowing me a Camps Bay walk and a Woolies shop on the way at lunchtime, and an afternoon one in Bakoven with slight drizzle; for the amazing kindness of receiving a bunch of roses from Woolies Manager Gary Arendse for Women’s Day, so spoilt with this branch so close by; for being so inspired by all the stories of the women restaurant owners in the Cape, posted here as well as in the Facebook Group; for surviving a dreadful attack in a Camps Bay Facebook Group; for a rainy day afternoon snooze; for dancing the balance of my steps to Kfm; for a Discovery Cashback for my healthy Woolies food purchases; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a beautiful ‘Spring’ Day, wearing shorts and a sleeveless top, dressed for a hard day’s work; for the wonderful satisfaction of spending five hours in cleaning up the Camps Bay Beachfront, removing kelp and beach sand, with the help of local resident Haakon and a number of homeless persons, getting Camps Bay back into shape again after the winter storm; for Haakon’s generosity in buying coffee and croissants at Maison J, the homeless persons saying it felt as if they had come to Camps Bay on ‘holiday’, to be spoilt so ❤️❤️❤️; for the loan of a broom and spade from The Bay Hotel, and a broom from Vida é Caffe; for no Loadshedding;  and for feeling happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →
