Corona Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for a day of lots of wind and rain, and few photographs and steps 😱; for preparing for two Status meetings this morning, not getting a midday walk as it started raining at that time, and it never stopped, pouring when I had to enter Anatoli Turkish Restaurant, waiting in the car; for a spoil Status meeting, with a huge pot of Dilmah Earl Grey tea and biscuits; for collecting my rolls at Dinkel Bakery, and a Lamb Curry Dinner treat at Café Charles to share for dinner with Gary Peterson; for a delightful Cointreau tea with dinner and an apple blueberry tart with Woolies custard mmmmm….. Restaurant Collective plea to Government: please reopen restaurants on 12 July, even if without alcohol!

 

The Restaurant Collective, which includes restaurants such as Tasha’s and Ocean Basket, has called on Government to not extend the Level 4 Lockdown Sit-Down Restaurant closure from 12 July.

The Restaurant Collective is a voluntary association which is ‘a unified voice for positive change for the Sit-down restaurant industry in South Africa’.  Its members are predominantly Johannesburg based, in a province which is currently severely struggling with Covid case numbers. Dineplan Survey shows diners willing to eat out during Covid-19 Lockdown, but Deliveries and Collections remain important!

 

Dineplan, a restaurant reservation system company, conducted a survey shortly after it was announced that Restaurants were allowed to open for Sit-Down Service from 30 June onwards. The survey interviewed diners to understand their willingness to eat out during the Corona Lockdown, to understand their expectations of restaurants, not only for Sit-Down Service, but also for Food Delivery and Collection. A relief for restaurants must be that only 1% of the respondents said that they would not eat out during Lockdown. Continue reading →

Number of Restaurants open for Sit-Down Service in Cape Town and Winelands grows to over 300!

 

On Monday 30 June restaurants were allowed to reopen for Sit-Down Service, after having only been allowed to offer a Food Delivery service from May, and a Food and Alcohol Delivery and Collection Service from June onwards.

Last week I posted a List of Restaurants offering a Sit-Down Service, in addition to the Facebook Group which I created of Restaurants offering Food and Alcohol Delivery and Collection. The List I posted had over 100 restaurants. I have been updating the List, and am posting an update today, with 315 restaurants on the updated List.

The majority of restaurants offering a Sit-Down service will continue offering a Food and Alcohol Delivery and/or Collection Service. Continue reading →
