The Sweet Service Award goes to Computicket at the Theater on the Bay, and its star staff member William. I was looking to buy one ticket for a Mozart Symphony Performance at the City Hall, receiving the bad news telephonically that there was only one last seat available right at the back of the Hall. The Sweet Service Award goes to William of Computicket at the Theatre on the Bay in Camps Bay, for his fantastic service I have enjoyed over the years. This week he changed a booking for ‘My Fair Lady’ to a date after the one which I had tickets for, but which I could not make due to a return flight arriving a day later. Normally one can only exchange tickets for an earlier date, but I will be out of the country for all the other dates of the musical.
The Sweet Service Award goes to GrandWest for its professional handling of the crowds attending the Carlos Santana concert on Tuesday evening. This Award is shared with William of Computicket in Camps Bay, who connected me with a customer in Sea Point, wishing to sell her ticket due to a knee operation the day before the concert, which had been sold out months in advance. Not being partial to crowds in big spaces, I was surprised about how smoothly everything went: no traffic problems close by (compared to the Cape Town Stadium concerts), easy to find parking close by, an excellent quality seat, lovely seat neighbours, a very tough security man preventing anyone further back blocking the view of those sitting in the front row of our block by wanting to dance in front of them, the incredibly low parking cost of R10, and the ease of leaving without any major traffic blockages. The Sweet Service Award goes to Computicket at the Theatre on the Bay branch in Camps Bay, and its operator William, for his ever friendly service, who knows our seat requirements for theatre bookings, and will always make a plan to organise tickets, even if one cannot get to the branch immediately. Other than on opening days of pop group bookings, the Camps Bay branch rarely has many customers, eliminating queues, and therefore the service generally is efficient and friendly. William knows Camps Bay, and will advise his customers on accommodation too, should they wish to stay over.
The Sour Service Award goes to Cape Town Tourism and its Communications Manager Skye Grove, who used her company Twitter account, in which her Bio denotes her position and provides a link to Cape Town Tourism’s website, to attack and defame lobbyist Errol Naidoo to fight a personal issue, writing that he needs a ‘brain transplant‘, amongst others, in response to a Cape Talk interview earlier this week. This is the response from CEO Mariette du Toit-Helmbold when we questioned her about the policy of the tourism body regarding attacks made on Twitter by her staff, it not being the first time that Ms Grove has defamed others on her Twitter account, implying that the Tweeting by Ms Grove was out of line: “Cape Town Tourism does have a communication policy which includes social media communication. Please be advised that the matter is being addressed in line with Cape Town Tourism’s HR policy and procedures”.
