Tuesday 2 March 2021, Day 2 of Level 1, Day 342 of Lockdown 😷
Corona Gratitude 🙏
#Grateful for a cooler day today, covered in fog early in the day, and clearing with a veil of cloud around Lions Head; for a busy writing day; for a relaxed day, so relaxed that I wasn’t sure if I had enough energy to go for a walk, but my energy just grew when I started walking, combining Camps Bay and Bakoven into one walk this afternoon, gaining 300 Discovery steps; for a call from Stuart Bailey, so happy to hear that both his restaurants are doing so well; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙
Mr Grey has been renamed Earl Grey, with majority support for his new name. 😻
Today I updated my monthly Restaurant Opening and Closure list, with 69 new restaurants opening and 97 closing since the start of Lockdown 11 months ago. Happy to hear that Cape Town’s oldest pub, Perseverance Tavern, has reopened after having closed down permanently. 👏
New Level 1 Curfew starting time a bonus for Cape Town & Winelands Restaurants: March 2021.
We are ecstatic for Utopia to be named one of the Top 3 Rooftop Restaurants and Bars in Cape Town by Lance Real Estate, in great company. The restaurant is doing so well that it is opening on Mondays from next week, and is introducing two dinner sessions, one Early and the other Late, restaurants now able to remain open until 23h00.

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December, extended to 15 February on 11 January, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
