Tuesday 1 February 2022, Day 124 of Level 1 😷

Corona Lockdown Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for a hot day, becoming misty; for a day of minimal writing; for Gary Peterson coming to fetch me to take me to the MediCross Day Hospital next to the Netcare Hospital on the Foreshore, for the first of two eye ops, having cataracts removed from my right eye today, all done by lunchtime, Gary fetching me and taking me home again; for a one hour sleep, having to lie on my left side, wearing a perspex eye patch, tonight and every night for a week; for managing a walk to Camps Bay with eye patch and all; and for being happy, healthy and free. 🙏💙

My Blogpost today was about the handover of the City Hall to the Parliament for the State of the Nation Address.

City of Cape Town hands over City Hall to Parliament for its State of the Nation Address!

In the four hours at the Hospital, two hours went to Pre-admissions (a commotion when I pointed out that my surname was completely misspelt, poppie not happy to be corrected and having to redo the 20 labels she’d printed for the 20 forms which had to be completed for the Admission) and Admission, which was like a Health Check, of my height, weight, blood pressure, blood sugar, heart rate, and a health and medical history evaluation, all receiving good scores 😱. Then 75 minutes of three different drops placed into my right eye every fifteen minutes, five times. And then it was time to be wheeled to the theatre, receiving a conscious sedation, not being aware that I was lights out until I woke up half an hour later, not having heard or felt a thing and not feeling any pain. A cheese and tomato sandwich and cup of tea later, and I could call Gary to collect me. The next eye will be done in a week. A great thanks to Discovery, Anaethetist Dr Lee, and Opthalmologist Dr Vayanos. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
