Saturday 2 May 2020, Day 2 of Level 4 Lockdown, after 35 days of Level 5 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for starting the day with a 90 minute walk, up to Glen Beach, with far fewer walkers and joggers and more cyclists, and few Cliftoners; for long chats to Jan de Wet, Haakon and Thomas Bauerkämper, and Shelley on the way, just getting back home in time; for feeling more comfortable and less claustrophobic in wearing my masks, being grateful to not have to wear lipstick and for them hiding most of the wrinkles 😱 ; for the lovely mist this morning, making for unusual photographs compared to all my sunshine ones up to now; for having a little terrace garden, to which I could pay some attention before the rain comes; for being able to buy the last figs at The Olive Branch Deli at Lifestyle on Kloof, popping into Woolies, and getting a treatment at my podiatrist in Sea Point, only my third car trip in 37 days; for my favorite song ‘Burn’ by Mathew Gold making number one on Kfm’s Top 40 this morning, with six SA songs in the Top 10, and 13 SA songs in the Top 40. Bravo Kfm and Martin Myers, who are doing so much to promote local music, on radio in particular 👏👏👏; for 145 Restaurants on the Take-Away Food Delivery List, with over 1800 members; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙

This morning both Vida e Caffe (now delivery only) and Maison J were closed, both having been closed down by the police yesterday after a Pick n Pay Camps Bay customer complained. The latter staff came back to clean up today, but were not allowed to sell anything. I was very disappointed this afternoon to see the bin outside Pick n Pay overflowing with two Maison J garbage bags, which meant that the bin could not close. I stopped my car coming back from Sea Point, and took out their bags from the bin and found other nearby bins to put them into. Very disappointed with Maison J, even though I love their croissants. 🥵

I love the friendly service at The Olive Branch Deli, and there was no queue this afternoon. Much more expensive than my usual fig supplier, but the only ones that I’ve seen since Lockdown, and still in very good condition.

The Woolies at Lifestyle on Kloof consistently delivers the worst service of the Woolies branches l shop at. They had no bananas, so this was a long story about if they had them in stock they would not be able to take out some out of a bag to sell them loose, because it would be in contravention of a Government regulation, the supervisor told me…. 🥵. … strange how inconsistent the service is at the branches, every other branch selling them loose, and willing to open packets.

I had a corn underneath my foot which meant that I could not walk barefoot. Podiatrist Azzat did a fantastic job of fixing up my feet, and we had a long chat about our respective Lockdown experiences. Good hygiene procedure. ❤️

It has started to drizzle, and it will rain until tomorrow morning, possibly cancelling exercise time tomorrow ☔️. Real comfort food and red wine weather. ❤️

I complained to the Parisian apartment owner about the VERY loud music of the Argentinians past midnight last night, leading to a torrent of abuse from her, telling me to not sit at home and do nothing but complain…. 😂🥵. Now another couple has moved into our building …. how is this allowed during Lockdown?

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier this week to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, and lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
