The Sweet Service Award goes to Auto & General, and its Call Centre staff member Nomsa, for the ease with which I was able to cancel my insurance policies with the company. She did try to entice me to stay with the company, by offering me a reduced premium, but I had already switched to Discovery Insure, with a premium half of that of A & G.
The Sour Service Award goes to Auto & General for charging me a R10 fee on 1 May, despite having cancelled all my policies with the insurance company effective 30 April. I called in, and was told that it was for a policy called Expo-Sure, giving me HIV cover should I be in an accident. I have been charged this for five years, so I threatened all sorts of things if they did not refund this devious charge, one I had never requested or agreed to! I have been promised a refund in a week.
