Saturday 20 November 2021, Day 51 of Level 1 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for a very quiet and relaxed day, mostly spent at home; for being warm at 23C and wind-free this morning, but gusting now, making it unpleasant to do a second walk, so it will be Couchrobics to make up my steps, to Kfm’s wonderful Blokparty, no talk, no ads🎶; for work throughout the day; for catching up on sleep; for a Bakoven walk, seeing beautiful clouds; for a lovely sunset; for a call with Gabi in Germany, who had to postpone her trip to Cape Town; for seeing that Daily Maverick selected my sunset pic as one of its selection of 20 of this week; and for being happy, healthy, and free. 🙏💙

I’ve tried to be a better eater today, and was delighted when a fellow walker Brenda told me that I had lost weight. We haven’t seen each other in a while, and what I ate in the past 24 hours cannot have made such a big difference yet. ❤️

The new Nigerian John in the Ebbtide 201 apartment of Sacha Jack made himself felt today when he put his music on full blast, the first time since he has been here in almost a week. I rang his intercom, and he kindly toned it down. But he is smoking dope, the smell wafting into my apartment. 😱😡. Apartment 101 tenant Nigerian Alex has disappeared into thin air, not having been seen or heard of since Monday. But his car is here. Hence a far more peaceful building this week. 👏

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March 2020 and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December,  extended to 15 February on 11 January 2021, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, moved back to Adjusted Level 2 on 31 May, moved back to level 3 on 16 June, and moved back to Adjusted Level 4 on 28 June, extended by two weeks on 11 July,  returned to Level 3 on 26 July, returned to Level 2 on 13 September, and returned to Level 1 on 1 October is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
