Thursday 12 November 2020, Day 53 of Level 1, Day 231 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a beautiful hot day, at 27C or more, Camps Bay jam-packed, even at 20h00 when I drove back home; for having written today’s blogpost yesterday, so I could walk to Clifton before it got too hot; for having an afternoon free when a meeting was postponed to tomorrow, which meant that I could work on other stories; for buying a bottle of brandy at Ultra, combining it with a trip I needed to do anyway, I being the only client at Ultra, which may now close at its regular time of 19h00, after the President’s Speech last night; for an invitation to a launch party in Bantry Bay; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙

I was very disappointed that Platters Wine Guide is no longer making its 5 star wine list available to writers, receiving only a very lightweight media statement from the publisher. I was told to buy a subscription to the Platter website if I want the information, bizarre in that writers assist in publicizing their Guide! 🥵😱

The staff at Ultra were very unhappy that they now have to work until 19h00, given the regular working hours as of today, as they could go home at 17h00 during Lockdown to date. 😱

We were about 40 persons attending the launch of Divine Wine Online in Shaun Terry’s very spacious home in Bantry Bay, checked in with temperature taken and hands sanitised. The dress theme was the Prohibition and 1920’s. The three garages were converted into a secret speakeasy Morton’s Prohibition Bar, guests being allowed to taste the wines they will offer for online sale. I hadn’t seen Alison Pearce since Lockdown, so we had a catch up chat. Claire Robertson works with Shaun, looking fabulous, having lost 16 kg, doing pole dancing and having a lovely new man, Marius van der Walt. A lovely event. 🍷

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, and lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
