Sunday 25 April 2021, Day 56 of Level 1 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a peaceful easygoing day; for it being warmer than the 18C forecast, cloudy with rain forecast for tomorrow and Tuesday; for a Social Media morning; for reading about ‘Nomadland’, tipped to win Best Picture at the Oscars early tomorrow morning, having to go and see it at The Labia; for a lovely coffee ice cream at Unframed on Kloof Street, the World’s Best Ice Cream Parlour; for a quick speed power walk when I got home, just as the sun was setting, beautiful sunsets from Camps Bay Drive and Geneva Drive, lucky to get my 300 Discovery points; for buying two last boxes of figs from Peppertree Café, the fig season finished now; and for being happy, healthy, and free. 🙏💙

‘Nomadland’ was 2 hours long, slow in its storytelling, feeling lots like a documentary rather than a film about nomads with mobile homes. This was only the 4th movie I’ve seen at The Labia after it reopened. The lovely popcorn and colddrink lady has gone 🥲. The two food/drink counters have been merged into one, causing very slow service and a long queue, the new lady not being nice, snapping at me that there is not enough money to pay all the staff when I mentioned the slow service 😱😡.

The Oscar prediction for Best Documentary is ‘My Octopus Teacher’. Will be holding thumbs for SA.

Shocking was receiving an email from Henry, our Building Manager, to say that he was held up at gunpoint in Wynberg on his way to church today, his wallet and cellphone taken. If anyone has a spare cellphone left over from an upgrade that I can buy from you for him I would be so grateful. 🙏

This afternoon we launched a big promotion with Dineplan and Secret Cape Town, giving away two Anatoli Vegan Menu dinners, a bottle of wine, a copy of the ‘Anatoli Authentic Turkish Cuisine’ cookbook, with a Royal Tea at the Silo Hotel and free entrance to the Zeitz MOCAA Museum. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What a treat to make a sandwich today with a toasted slice of the walnut bread baked by Rose Klein, topped with prosciutto, Brie, and slices of fig ❤️❤️❤️

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December,  extended to 15 February on 11 January, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
