Friday 20 November 2020, Day 61 of Level 1, Day 240 of Lockdown. 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a stunning 30C day today, after four days of wind, the beaches in Camps Bay being jam-packed with happy swimmers and picnickers; for an amazing start to the day; for the City of Cape Town taking a first tiny step to fix the broken fence, and for removing the flattened pedestrian sign at Bali Bay 🙏; for a lovely lunch to which I was invited by Dale Kushner at the offices of film company AFS Productions on Kloof Street; for being able to leave my car parked at their offices and being able to explore the bottom end of Kloof Steeet, for a second (late afternoon) walk to the Tidal Pool, seeing a luxury bus with EFF supporters shouting out of the windows and blowing their vuvuzelas, being transported back to Hout Bay from Brackenfell 😱; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙

Today I awarded Absolute Pets in Camps Bay the Sweet Service Award and Checkers the Sour Service Award, the second week in a row. 😱

Sweet Service Award goes to Absolute Pets; Sour Service Award goes to Checkers!

Moving from having been a PR Consultant in the long past to now being a Communications Consultant with an emphasis on Social Media, I have to learn on the job. Yesterday in our client meeting we discussed an approach from a Bush Radio DJ called ‘Mr Meyer’, with 135000 followers, and I had to send him a message back this morning. One two three he told me to tune into the radio station, as he was live, and he did two shout-outs to my client, with brand mentions and all. He had done a Selfie of himself speaking them, sent them to me, and I could share them on our Social Media platforms. What an exciting start to the day. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I am impressed with film production company AFS Productions, in that all their staff sit down for Lunch together daily, to connect. They invite a guest to join them regularly. They are very excited about having just signed up their first American production since Lockdown started. Owner Dale Kushner loves cooking and eating out, so we shared restaurant favorites around the table. He showed me around the two floors of their offices, and I loved his carved bunny collection, and his aquarium.

I walked up Kloof Street, and saw the following:

#. HaagenDasz is opening an ice cream parlour

#. I found where Kloof Street Village is, the space that was intended to become another Cowboys & Cooks, but now is a larger shop with four shops inside: KOFI, Schoon from Stellenbosch, where I bought a croissant and a Pasteis de Nata, Nü healthy food, and Free Bird. It is on the corner of Kloof and Rheede Streets. Kauai Head Office is the landlord of the space.

#. I found where Big Dog Café is, with poor signage, as one has to go down a set of steps. It is a sister Café Terbodore in Franschhoek, where they roast coffee. I found the space dead, and nothing enticed me to sit and eat or drink something. The manager rudely asked me if I had just visited to photograph the interior!

#. The former Janse & Co is being renovated, its interior colour going lighter, to a coffee colour. It was very dark grey/black before. The interior changes are meant to finish by next week. There is no indication as to who will move into the space. The beautiful mural near the entrance has been removed.

#. Mince pies are available again at Peppertree Café, the best in town, so I had to buy some there.

Service at the tills at Woolworths in Lifestyle on Kloof always is poor, and today was no exception. 😱

A very good day. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, and lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
