Monday 7 December 2020, Day 78 of Level 1, Day 257 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a cool start of the day with a light drizzle turning into a sunny afternoon; for surviving a short restless sleep night; for the luck of seeing a massive pod of dolphins close to Bakoven, taking a quick break in my writing to see it closer up, and for Henry videoing it; for attending a wine tasting at Utopia thisReenen  afternoon; for indulging in a leg wax with Steffanie at the Skin Studio in Sea Point; for a shop at Woolies Sea Point; for a quick walk up a lane to check for litter I was told about; and for being healthy. 🙏💙

Today’s Blogpost was the sad news that a second Top 10 restaurant is to close down, the internationally acclaimed Restaurant Mosaic at The Orient Hotel outside Pretoria.

Another internationally recognised Top 10 Restaurant to close its doors: Restaurant Mosaic at The Orient!

Siris Vintners’ Izak Nieuwoudt led a winetasting of four wines that they represent and are on the Utopia winelist, with their waiters. I joined in to learn more about their brand new Winelist: Domaine des Dieux Chardonnay 2016 and Josephine Pinot Noir 2013, both wines from the Hemel & Aarde Valley; Boschkloof Bordeaux Blend 2019, made in Stellenbosch by winemaker Reenen Borman; and Nicolas van der Merwe Merlot-driven Blend 2017, also from Stellenbosch.

I needed some cleaning materials and bought them at the Pick n Pay on Strand Street. The service at the till at Woolworths St John’s Piazza was poor, with no Store Manager in the store! I should stick to my Camps Bay store!

There was a large filmshoot in Camps Bay today. Firefly Café was one of the locations.

Minsky seems lost, understandably, and is looking for KitKat on an erf on the other side of our building, not where they usually played together. I almost had a heart attack when I heard a cat scream, thinking that she had been hit by a car, all of a sudden taking to the street side of our building. Luckily I heard the scream again, and it came from the erf next door, the first time I have ever heard it, and possibly a mating scream. 😱

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, and lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
