Thursday 27 May 2021, Day 88 of Level 1 😷

Corona Gratitude šŸ™

#Gratitude for an organized day; for surviving on only 4 hours of sleep, feeling energized because it was so busy; for a walk up the 100 Houghton Steps and down Houghton Road; for a wonderful afternoon, doing a quick shop at the German shop and then at Hartlief, for fetching my rolls at Dinkel and buying mustard at the upstairs German shop, for a short and sweet Status meeting at Utopia, and photographing the range of Chardonnays it stocks, for International Chardonnay Day; for a lovely tea and Appeltaart treat and chat with Gary Peterson at Labotessa Hotel on Church Square, despite a short period of drilling, and for grocery shopping at unbelievably low prices for cucumber, potatoes, and avos at Fideli’s Deli; and for being happy, healthy, and free. šŸ™šŸ’™

My Blogpost today was about Jo Facey Pentz recently eating at Restaurant KLEIN JAN at Tswalu Private Game Reserve, the closest I’m likely to get to experiencing our country’s most expensive restaurant.

A first taste of Chef Jan-Hendrik’s KLEIN JAN at Tswalu Private Game Reserve!

I found service disappointing where I went today, especially at Dinkel (Cain was doing something else), at Hartlief, Continental Butchery, and at the Breda Street German Shop. As for the driving today, it was dreadful, drivers cutting in from side and stop streets.

Labotessa CafĆ© in the Hotel has almost completed the installation of its fireplace. It has already added a new cosy corner couch, which Gary and I took ā€˜ownership’ of. Luckily the drilling was finished quickly.

Fideli’s is like a second home when I’m in town, a safe space, and great excellent value vegetable shopping, at unbelievable prices. For the first time they have added PĆ¢tisserie items, amazing sweet treats. Gary kindly reciprocated the tea and tart treat with a chocolate mousse bomb, which I took home with me. šŸ™ #thankyou

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December, Ā extended to 15 February on 11 January, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
