Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 89 of Level 1, 28 May 2021

Friday 28 May 2021, Day 89 of Level 1 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for a fabulous smooth-flowing day; for five and a half hours of sleep, yet energized throughout the day; for officially being welcomed on board at the New Kings Hotel in Sea Point, my newest client, in which another client is opening his new restaurant on 15 June, a most exciting project; for shopping at Checkers and Woolies, I’ll be in this hood every Tuesday afternoon, a bigger Woolies than my Camps Bay one (but not as good service); for bumping into Rufus Scholtz, who moves to Joburg next week, having been appointed as GM of a new hotel there; for stopping at Bokhe Creative Studio on Regent Road, for a slice of the BEST chocolate cake in Cape Town, paired with Allesverloren Tinta Barocca and two other red wines, at no charge, what a fabulous treat, enjoying it in celebration of my good hotel meeting; for an afternoon walk, when the rain stopped for a few hours; for another walk with Vivian Warby to the Tidal Pool, the first with her in about 2 weeks, having missed my walking buddy; and for being happy, healthy, and free 🙏💙

The Sweet Service Award went to Supa Quick; the Sour Service Award went to AVBOB 😡😱!

The New Kings Hotel is in the Piazza du Luz building on Regent Road, which has just undergone a major renovation, giving it a 4-star grading, and is getting a fabulous new restaurant. A fabulous partnership all round. I love that I’m expected to stay over one night a month, to keep on top of the guest experience.

The free Allesverloren wine tasting and pairing with the chocolate or coffee cake at Bokeh is available tomorrow too, from 9h00 – 17h00.

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December,  extended to 15 February on 11 January, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
