Friday 3 April 2020, Day 19 of SA Corona Virus, Day 8 of SA Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for an even hotter day today, at 29C, before the temperature reverse begins tomorrow; for having such a fabulous roof over my head, with an amazing view, changing daily; for speaking to long-time friend Donoven Hammond Gloy in Maritzburg; for being able to essentials-shop today; for the fabulous service at our local Woolworths; for sleeping late after posting my Blogposts; for being able to dance and walk to Kfm, and to hear that DJ Carl Wastie and Zoe Brown retain their 4 hour slot, whilst other Kfm DJs’ slots have been reduced during Lockdown; for such lovely warm evenings, being able to have dinner by candlelight on my terrace; and for being fit and healthy. 🙏💙

While walking to the shops, I found litter to throw away, but the bins in the SAPS parking area were overflowing. There was more litter at the stream at the Tidal Pool. 🥵

I encountered 12 Homeless persons between the Promenade shopping centre and the Law Enforcement building, shocked to find 5 homeless persons camping under a tarpaulin behind the latter building. I went to the entrance of the building, and found the most remarkable Law Enforcement Officer Ramsay, who told me that he was transferred to our office two days ago, shocked to hear what poor service we have received from it in the past. He told me that the City is creating a new Homeless shelter in Strandfontein, and that the one underneath the Elevated Freeway is full up. He is therefore turning a blind eye to the Camps Bay homeless until they can be taken to Strandfontein. What an amazing person, so excited to have him here. 🙏

I love the walk to the shops, but also the friendly reception we are getting from the managers of our local Pick n Pay and Woolworths. The manager of the latter told me today how much they enjoy the company of their shoppers, as it gets lonely for them too, even though their mornings seem really busy, and much of the fresh supplies are sold then. The Pick n Pay manager waved me goodbye when I left, like long-lost friends. ❤️❤️❤️

I’ve created a new walking route in my home, with more fresh air than in the garage, from my bed to the terrace, 20 steps one way, with a good power walk possible. 👣

I’m still trying to solve my problem with the non-quarantined Argentinians in my building, having contacted 12 Corona-related agencies so far. But most helpful to date was Alderman James Vos of the City’s Economic Development and Asset Management Department, which includes Tourism, who replied in less than half an hour, and gave me the most direct link to a Corona Support department dealing with stranded tourists, at SA Tourism . 🙏

I found the volume button for my TV through which I listen to Kfm and my playlist, and now I can really dance …. 💃💃💃

Wow, the max temperature is set to drop by 10 degrees tomorrow. 😱

Corona status: 1505 cases 7 deaths 😷😪

FitBit 12000 steps 8,5 km 👣

The Corona Virus Lockdown, announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier this week to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
