The Sweet Service Award goes to TakeaLotcom, for its beyond efficient handling of customer collections of orders the day before the Corona Virus Lockdown. The day before I had communicated with one of their staff, who told me that my order could not be collected because one item, the skipping rope I needed for my Lockdown exercise, was not in stock. She assisted me in ordering a different brand which was in stock, and the next morning I received a message to say that I could collect my order. There was a short queue at the entrance to the Business Park in Montagu Gardens, I found parking easily, and found the entrance. I had to check in on a Tablet at the entrance, someone assisting me. I then sat down in the Collections Department, expecting a long wait, but it was less than 5 minutes before my name came up on the screen. I had to sign a piece of paper, hand in a form at the exit, and off I went with my skipping rope, the collection taking ten minutes! Later that day the rest of my order was delivered to my home.
The Sour Service Award goes to Pride Precast construction company, erecting a wall behind the apartment in which I live. It was three days prior to Lockdown, when the President had already requested the nation to stay at home, when the company arrived to construct the wall. The staff was brought to our building, seven squeezed into an enclosed Bakkie, making a huge noise as if they owned our space, and then jack-hammered all day, whilst I was preparing for an exam. I spoke to the young manager, asking him to keep his staff quiet, but he was not interested. The following day they returned, meant to be the completion day, but the manager said they were only offloading materials to build the wall, and that the company was closing for Lockdown on that day. However, the third day they arrived again, now collecting waste material, most of which they left behind on a neighbour’s empty erf, once again making a noise. The end result is that they have not even started building the wall, and during the Lockdown the building has a security problem, as there is now no barrier to entering our property. A neighbour complained too about the damage they caused to his garden whilst removing the old wall. A most unprofessional contractor!
