Yesterday I wrote about the Government keeping Restaurants in the dark, more than a week after President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that Restaurants may reopen, on an unspecified date, assumed to be on 1 July, and with unannounced regulations to date.
The Restaurant Collective, a group of Restaurants which includes Ocean Basket, Tasha’s, Doppio Zero, and the Signature Collection, has shared Guidelines prepared by the Tourism Business Council of SA as to how to prepare restaurants for the reopening:
General Standards:

- Everyone entering a restaurant must wear a mask
- Check temperatures and screen for symptoms
- Implement Social Distancing guidelines, between 1,5 to 2 meters.
- Communicate with all guests and staff.
Staff Standards
- All staff to wear masks
- Train staff in Covid protocols and standards
- Staff to not travel in work uniform
- Staff to wear prescribed safety gear
- Staff to wash their hands every 20 minutes for 20 seconds with soap and water
