Last Friday I joined a media table to experience the new High Tea offered at Harbour House Constantia Nek, the first and only High Tea offering in Constantia.We were seated at one long table, and it was laden with information about the High Tea options, about forthcoming events at Harbour House, and the High Tea Menu. The welcome drink of Steenberg Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc reflects the loyalty of the Harbour House Group in supporting the Constantia wine estates. When ordering the High Tea, a glass of the sparkling wine costs R60.
We were welcomed by Lisa Carey, Marketing and PR Manager of the Harbour House Group.
Harbour House is one of two restaurants, with La Parada, to occupy the heritage Constantia Nek building, previously having housed Cape Town’s oldest restaurant:
Two High Tea options are offered, and both were available on the table:
High Tea Petit
This is a reduced High Tea option costing R150 per person, and consists of
# Cucumber, egg, and tuna sandwiches
# Mini scones, butter, strawberry jam, whipped cream
# Lemon tart, and dark chocolate tart.
# Pot of Earl Grey or Five Roses flavored tea, or cappuccino
High Tea Deluxe
This High Tea option is the full Monty one, offering the following at a cost of R260:
#. Mini scones with whipped cream and strawberry jam
#. Cucumber sandwiches, trout sandwiches, and egg sandwiches
#. Bobotie samoosa, and chicken samoosa
#. Bacon quiche, and spinach quiche
#. Red velvet cake and carrot cake
#. Dark chocolate cake, lemon tart, cheesecake
#. Chocolate mousse and lime panna cotta
#. Pot of Earl Grey or flavored Tea, or cappuccino.
The High Teas were designed by Chef Grant Kennedy in conjunction with talented La Parada Chef Martin Senekal, who has a pastry background. The High Teas are only offered at the Constantia Nek branch of Harbour House, on Mondays to Saturdays, from 14h00 – 17h00.
