President Ramaphosa announced the country moving to Aleet Level 3 from midnight tonight, with a change in the Curfew time, starting an hour earlier.
Retail sales of alcohol are curtailed, and restaurants, bars, and fitness centres must close at 21h00.
Social gathering numbers have been further restricted.
No end date of Adjusted Level 3 was announced, a rumour today stating that it would just be a five day period, clearly incorrect.
The President said that he understood how Lockdown restrictions have affected the freedom of our nation over the past 15 months. He said that through the mass vaccination program there is hope in beating the Pandemic.
In the last two weeks the daily number of infections has doubled, he said, All provinces are seeing rising numbers, and four provinces are in the Third Wave alresdy, with Gauteng worst hit, the President said.
To deal with the Virus we need to go back to basic precautions of preventing infections, like wearimg masks, Social Distancing, and washing and sanitising hands. A ten day quarantine is essential if one has contracted the virus.
Restrictions need to be addressed again, the Pressudebt said. Therefore we are moving to Alert Level 3.
The new regulations are as follows:
- The Curfew starts at 22h00 from midnight tonight, until 4h00
- Restaurants, bars, and fitness centres must close at 21h00.
- Only 50 persons may be inside at a gathering, or 100 outside.
- Retail sales of alcohol are permitted from 10h00 – 18h00 from Mondays to Thursdays
- Restaurant alcohol sales permitted until 21h00 every evening.
