Friday 1 May 2020, Day 1 of Lockdown Level 4, after 35 days at Level 5 😷
Corona Gratitude 🙏
#Grateful for a spectacular day all round, with a misty start, and turning out warm; for feeling on top of the world, my best day since the start of Lockdown ❤️; for such a wonderful exercise morning, fresh air, lovely sea smell as I left the house, and smelling coffee on the walk, loving the energy of everyone around me, walking, running, and cycling, feeling really good after 8000 steps at a time of day which was a first one for walking for me; for picking up litter along the way; for meeting friends along the way, including Ashleigh Fleming and her brood, Thomas Bauerkämper and Haakon, Justin Paul Jansen, Andrew Cairns, and seeing the staff of Maison J, a happy reunion again, what a surprise to see them open, which I celebrated with an orange juice and a croissant 🥐❤️; for a long chat with Jenny Stephens; for an inspiring video by ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ author Elizabeth Gilbert about running away from oneself, I recognizing myself in her wise words (video posted on my page)❤️; for a shopping walk this afternoon, definitely much calmer than this morning; for the delivery of my dinner by Essentials by Ryan Cole, to celebrate more of this special day, being the first day of Level 4, May Day, Exercise Day, and first Home Food Delivery Day; for getting a cash back of over R400 from Discovery Vitality for my healthy food purchases at Woolies; for a promise of a refund from Auto & General for a hidden charge taken by them, called Expo-sure, for the past 5 years 🥵, and for being happy and healthy on a day that felt liked Christmas. 🙏💙
Wow, what a fabulous morning, walking so early. I’ve never seen so many Camps Bay locals out on the Promenade. There was dog jogging, cycling, walking, beach walking, running, and pram pushing. A wonderful spirit. The Cliftoners coming our way definitely not as friendly as our Camps Bayers as far as greeting goes. Only 40% wore masks at all, many chin and head mask wearers. 90 % of dogs on a lead. I felt so refreshed and ready to work. 🙏
Sadly Maison J was closed down by the police, and beach walkers told to get off the beach just as exercise time was done at 9h00, I was told by the Pick n Pay Manager this afternoon. 😱😢😷 Nice to see a glimpse of Dave Talbot as he drove past.
A lovely Vit D snooze on the terrace this afternoon. 🌞
I’m far better at my bookkeeping, and checked my bank statement today. Lo and behold, there was a R10 odd payment deducted by Auto & General today. As we are officially divorced, this was not on. I called them, and was told that I have paid for an HIV cover in case it is contracted via a car accident, for the past five years🥵😱! I never agreed to this, it having been snuck into my car premium. They have promised to refund the 5 year charge. 🥵🥵🙏🙏
My dinner meal delivery was a mushroom quiche of four portions, handmade and delivered by Chef Ryan, one of the food delivery services on my new Facebook page. He is the Head Chef of Salsify at The Roundhouse in Camps Bay, a Top 10 Restaurant. He delivered to my door, I paid in cash, and he brought me a treat of a slice of plum tart 🙏💙
Sad to hear that Mariner’s Wharf in Hout Bay closed down today. And that a fire at Bossa Stellenbosch follows that of Strandloper a few days again.
SA Corona Status: 5952 cases 126 deaths 😷😢

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier this week to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, and lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
