The Sweet Service Award goes to Labotessa Café, and its owner Johan du Plessis, for comping the Appeltaart and cream when I went there on Monday to celebrate the City of Cape Town Mayoral Civic Award which was handed over on Wale Street, not far from the Labotessa Hotel. An even bigger treat was having Johan sit at the table for a catch-up chat.
The Sour Service Award goes to ESKOM, and its dreadful Loadshedding in the past two weeks, especially on Wednesday, when the country was moved to Stage 4, reduced to Stage 3 via the City of Cape Town, meaning three 150 minute power outages per day on Thursday! Miraculously the Loadshedding ends at 20h00 tonight, possibly an attempt at reversing some of the damage the outages may have caused for the governing party, given the municipal election on Monday!
