Thursday 5 November 2020, Day 46 of Level 1, Day 224 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a warm windy day, ahead of a wet weekend; for an early start, joining Brian Van Hansen on a visit to The Beach House in Hout Bay for breakfast while Brian shot photographs for the guest house website; for meeting The Beach House owner Sylvie Wrankmore, proudly showing me her rooms, and her fabulous vegetable garden; for sitting with Brian to select the best pics of our shoot on Tuesday; for a quick walk to Bakoven; for a short and sweet client meeting; for fetching Jenny Stephens and driving to Wellington, where we left our car, and were fetched by Elaine Wegelin, school classmate and Tour Guide on our Wellington Wine Walk, with whom we have had anxious discussions about the forecast weekend ďżźrain over the past few days; for our lovely accommodation at Cascade Manor outside Paarl, with an olive oil tasting, followed by dinner with other walkers in our group; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Number of Restaurants open for Sit-Down Service in Cape Town and Winelands grows to over 300!

The List I posted had over 100 restaurants. I have been updating the List, and am posting an update today, with 315 restaurants on the updated List.

The majority of restaurants offering a Sit-Down service will continue offering a Food and Alcohol Delivery and/or Collection Service. Continue reading →

Just before the beginning of May I created a Facebook Group ‘Lockdown Restaurant Food Deliveries Cape Town and Winelands’, since amended to add Collections to its name too.  Initially during May the restaurants listed were offering Deliveries only, in line with Lockdown Level 4 regulations, but since 1 June restaurants are allowed to offer a Collection Service as well as Alcohol Sales, in line with Lockdown Level 3 regulations. The Facebook Group has close to 4500 members.  Continue reading →

South African grape crop at lowest level in 14 years, wine grape area shrinks!

Attending a Tour Guiding course this week, one of our topics was the South African Wine Industry, taught to us by winemaker and consultant Pieter de Waal of Hermit on the Hill. Generously he gifted me the latest The South African Wine Industry Directory 2020, a publication which I have never seen. I have extracted some key information from the publication below.
