Saturday 5 December 2020, Day 76 of Level 1, Day 255 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a very long sleep; for a haircut at Isabella Page Morgan in her brand new salon above Seattle coffee shop in Sea Point; for a light breakfast at WCafe, shocked at how expensive their prices have become since they ropened during Lockdown (R50 for two-egg scrambled egg on toast); for popping in at Utopia, photographing more of their dishes, and trying their chicken liver parfait, too delicious; for a clean up at the Camps Bay Tidal Pool with my cleaning team, very busy with litter removal given the number of people picnicking there as the weather was so fantastic…. until the wind came up; for returning to Utopia to photograph and video an engagement, the fourth in four weeks; and for being healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a lovely day to celebrate our country’s Heritage; for a smooth drive to Cape Town, after stops at Good Food & Co to drop off a bottle of ADHARA extra virgin olive oil to Joey Stiglingh, one of two sisters owning the Franschhoek Deli, and buying cheeses, eggs, and yoghurt at the Dalewood Fromage Farm Shop; for the fabulous restringing of my pearl bracelets and repair of a favorite brooch by Caroline Smith in Claremont; for the collection of my Heritage Day treat of Duck Spring Rolls at Pilcrow & Cleaver; for receiving the scoop from Chef Darren Badenhorst about all his restaurant ventures coming up, a story I wrote this morning before leaving Franschhoek; for the lovely breakfast spoil at Maison Montagne; for the love connection with my babies on my return, having missed each other 😻😻; for the Jerusalema Dance Challenge we did on the Tidal Pool Beach, and later on the Tidal Pool wall, guided in doing the dance by Brazilian Eloah who lives in Camps Bay too, whose idea it was, it being hard to dance in the sand; for a wonderful sun relax on my terrace on this third great weather day,at 24C, in a row; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Venishree Mayer Continue reading →

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a sunny day, cooler at 18C, getting ready for rain tonight, with clouds moving in now; for having Joel to help me clean up Camps Bay, the two of us doing a deep clean; for bumping into David Smith twice in 24 hours, he teaching a German to SUP on the Tidal Pool, not having seen each other in about 10 years, last in my Camps Bay guest house days; for bumping into Lynne Gordon and Linda Gawronsky at the Tidal Pool again, and taking a pic of them with the SUPers in the background; for a short sun snooze on the terrace; for a trip back to town, putting in petrol proactively and fetching a slice of the Peppertree Café Lemon Chiffon cake, they not having it yesterday, and baking it especially, because I love it so much 🙏,; for enjoying a bottle of Durban Poison beer, just having a sudden craving for a beer, not drinking it often; for listening to Hope@Home on Tour, with beautiful baroque music by Concerto Melante from Potsdam; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →
