Saturday 25 July 2020, Day 55 of Level 3, after 66 days at Levels 5 and 4. 😷
Corona Gratitude 🙏
#Grateful for a sunny day, cooler at 18C, getting ready for rain tonight, with clouds moving in now; for having Joel to help me clean up Camps Bay, the two of us doing a deep clean; for bumping into David Smith twice in 24 hours, he teaching a German to SUP on the Tidal Pool, not having seen each other in about 10 years, last in my Camps Bay guest house days; for bumping into Lynne Gordon and Linda Gawronsky at the Tidal Pool again, and taking a pic of them with the SUPers in the background; for a short sun snooze on the terrace; for a trip back to town, putting in petrol proactively and fetching a slice of the Peppertree Café Lemon Chiffon cake, they not having it yesterday, and baking it especially, because I love it so much 🙏,; for enjoying a bottle of Durban Poison beer, just having a sudden craving for a beer, not drinking it often; for listening to Hope@Home on Tour, with beautiful baroque music by Concerto Melante from Potsdam; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙
Joel and I found a very hidden Homeless shelter near the SAPS parking on our clean up, deep inside a bush, near the rebuilt one which had been removed a week ago. I reported it to Law Enforcement Officer Ivor Ramsay, such a lovely man. Joel spent a lot of time at Glen Beach, there being a terrible amount of litter at the little stream running into the sea there. He opened up the stream to improve the flow of the water, removing kelp and litter in it.
While we walked to Glen Beach we saw the black Audi without numberplates and on a red line around the corner of Caprice. Something didn’t feel right, the short well-dressed man with a 6 foot plus bodyguard, and a driver inside the car already, so I took a pic, as I do when I see something that I think is untoward. Shorty was not happy with me photographing, and made out as if he had nothing to do with the car, asking if I’m from the Traffic department. We waited to watch, but when he thought that I was distracted speaking to the Tigers Milk Manager, he jumped into the car, but I had seen it! On my way back I went to Caprice, asked about them, and was told that they didn’t actually sit down. But they had taken a beer out of their car and walked down to the beach with it. The restaurant staff also had a strange feeling about them. None of them wearing any masks. I was also told that similar types of persons are coming past Caprice regularly recently, not having happened in the past. I felt that the uneasiness of Shorty and him lying meant that there was something more to this visit. And then Lisa Hayden saw my post, and said that she has seen this car near where she lives.
I was also told that at one of our beach suburbs – can only be Bakoven or Glen Beach – where the staff member lives, a house is rented regularly for late night parties, with lots of cars coming and going even during curfew, bringing in ladies of the night…. what a boring life I lead…. 😱😂
I put in petrol at the strangest tiny Shell petrol station on Buitengracht Street, my first time, now dictated to by Discovery in going to BP or Shell. A car blocked the exit, just having stopped there to buy a pie and not putting in petrol. I did like the Discovery number being recorded at the bottom of my slip, my BP petrol purchase last month not having been acknowledged by Discovery, and I having to chase the Cashback for it.
I’m doing an early movie night, not having any writing to do tonight. Just waiting for Minsky to return from her walkabout. 😱😸🍿

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, and lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
