#Grateful for a most fabulous day, with surprises and super organized, packing a lot in; for an early start to my work, so that I could attend a 10h00 meeting, with the confirmation of my third restaurant client, this one brand new, opening next month, starting work on it straight away❀; for amazing service to have a slow leak in my car tyre fixed at Supa Quick at the Total Garage on Main Road, Sea Point, taking 10 minutes and R100 to remove a screw 👏; for a celebratory chocolate shop at Tomes in the Waterfront, its Garden’s Centre branch having closed down; for a spoil cat food buy at Woolies, Whiskas pouches per box of 12 now Continue reading →

Roots Café & Kitchen taken over by siblings Mel and Jason Laing, friendly and homely!

 

Brother and sister Jason and Melissa Laing have taken over Roots Café and Kitchen in Roeland Square, across the road from Wembley Square, both having left Firefly Café in Camps Bay. The restaurant ownership change took place a month ago, the former owner Jess being friends with the siblings. I was invited to try the restaurant by Jason.

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a fabulous and efficient day, packing a lot in after a solid 6,5 hour sleep; for starting writing just after 6h00, getting everything done so that I could fit in a power walk on my secret Bakoven path, gaining another 300 Discovery points; for tackling the email of response to the R1 million plus maintenance quote for our EbbTide apartmentđŸ˜±; for 2 Discovery Gameboard plays, giving me a R100 Woolies voucher; for a lovely lunch at Roots CafĂ© & Kitchen at Roeland Square, across the road from Wembley Square; for a lovely client meeting at Anatoli, spoilt with Dilmah Earl Grey tea and lovely crunchy chocolate biscuits; for a fabulous hot restaurant news update; for a quick shop at Hartlief; for the weather being less dramatic than was predicted for today, without the thunderstorms forecast ; and for being warm in my winter pyjamas, happy, healthy, and free. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Restaurant Review: Firefly Café in Camps Bay is a unique neighbourhood refreshment station, starting to fly!

 

Firefly Café is a most unusual Café in Camps Bay, which opened in September. Expecting a coffee shop from the initial description, it opened with a tiny open -plan kitchen, serving largely dishes with air-fried chips, with coffees and teas too. I have visited the restaurant regularly, and have only two dishes which I would order there.

After some trial and error, it is flying now, and seems to attract an increasing number of patrons, locals in the main.  Continue reading →
