Restaurants in Lockdown: some have closed down, others have moved towards Food Delivery & Collection, and Alcohol Sales, as Restaurant Sit-Down remains prohibited, June 2020.

 

While a few restaurants already announced their closure at the beginning of March, when the COVID-19 Virus Lockdown had not yet been announced, a flood of restaurant closures is expected when restaurants are allowed to reopen to the public in Level 1 again, at an unannounced date in the future.

An exciting start on the first day of Level 3 today is that Restaurants may offer a Food Collection service from their outlets. In addition, they may offer sealed bottles of alcoholic beverages for sale too, if they have a liquor license, enabling them to make some profit after two months of little trade. Many restaurants reopened at the beginning of May, when Level 4 Restaurant Food Delivery was announced.  A number of our Top 10 Restaurants are offering a Food Delivery Service. Continue reading →

Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 66 of Lockdown, Day 31 of Level 4, 31 May 2020.

 

31 May 2020, Day 31 of Level 4, after 35 days of Level 4, 66 days of Lockdown to date. 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful that we have survived 66 days of the Lockdown, that I am healthy and do not know anyone local who has contracted the disease 🙏; for a wonderful walk this morning, up to the start of Bantry Bay, starting at 7h15, with the street lights still on and cyclists having their lights switched on, it being warm enough for shorts and a sleeveless top; with a lovely pink and blue sky at sunrise; for being grateful to the City of Cape Town for repainting the street lines and pedestrian crossings on Victoria Road in Camps Bay 🙏; for friendly service from Woolworths, Maison J, and Absolute Pets when I popped in there to shop on my way home; for facing my major dislike of filing, and finally getting it done, after 66 days…. 😱; for the support of Gary Peterson, Eva Meklis Mazza, and Michele Antelme especially in a debate I lightheartedly sparked about wearing masks and Social Distancing in Camps Bay; for dancing and walking to my playlist; for the Solid Waste Department doing its best to clear our green bins in Camps Bay and Clifton, despite being short-staffed; for some Vit D therapy on the terrace; for a beautiful sunny day; for my FitBit behaving itself today; and for being fit and happy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for more rain overnight and this morning, unbelievable how much has fallen this week, and lucky once again that by 7h30 it had stopped, just in time for Exercise; for very few garbage bags on my walk, only some in Clifton; for very few Exercisers today, probably what it will be like from Monday as it is spread out more; for the amazing proactive offer from local resident Margit Roberts to donate to Camps Bay Clean 👏, when we saw each other on our walk this morning; for having the company of Minsky, who has settled in nicely after a week 🐱; for some sun therapy on the terrace this afternoon, making me feel much better; for a less busy day; for dancing to Kfm 💃; and for being fit and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

The Sweet Service Award goes to Absolute Pets in Camps Bay, and to its staff member Bukeka, for her kindness and advice shown to me in buying cat food, a name tag for a new cat, as well as cat treats.
