Sunday 20 June 2021, Father’s Day, Day 5 of Level 3 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for another fabulous day, a summer’s day at 26C, sunny and warm; for a good sleep in silence 🙏; for a pop in at Paris Cape Town, a growing addiction, sadly most of their breads sold out; for spending lunchtime at Utopia Cape Town, photographing happy families celebrating Father’s Day on such a beautiful day, and the handing over by GM Patso Ivanov of a Father’s Day prize of Bain’s Mountain whisky made in my hometown of Wellington as well as biltong, to Candice Mentoor who brought her family of 7, including her husband, father, and father in law 👏; for meeting Dawn Continue reading →

Sunday 29 November 2020, Day 70 of Level 1, Day 249 of Lockdown. 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a beauty of a day, at 26C; for being spoilt with a fabulous breakfast at The 41 restaurant by Emma Faquharson; for signing the release form for participating in the Carte Blanche program soon, possibly next Sunday, with a coffee visit by producer Michael Duffet; for sorting out a conflict between two of the Community Cleaners, luckily amicably; for spending an hour cleaning up on both sides of the Tidal Pool with Community Cleaners John and Carmen; for time for a Vit D snooze on the terrace, a blessing after a busy week; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 14 of Level 1, 4 October 2020.

Sunday 4 October 2020, Day 14 of Level 1, Day 192 of Lockdown. 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a wonderful day all round, the weather superb, my first Lockdown brunch, and my first dancing at La Parada Constantia Nek since the beginning of Lockdown; for the City of Cape Town coming to collect the broken glass this morning just as I went for a walk, happy that I could express my thanks to the staff personally; for fetching croissants from Maison J, having pre-ordered them; for feeling far safer in Camps Bay today, with 10 Law Enforcement Officers, two traffic police cars, and a Metro Police car proactively present in Camps Bay; for a wonderful Heritage Brunch at my home, lasting six hours, the second longest one ever; for the happiness of going back to La Parada Constantia Nek, seeing so many people from the pre-Lockdown dance nights there, yet it was so different, with minimal dance space, but the highlight was The Kiffness playing; for surviving a taxi overtaking me in a curve of the road and scraping my car on my way home, but not seeing any damage to my car (yet); and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 63 of Level 3, 2 August 2020.

Sunday 2 August 2020, Day 63 of Level 3, after 66 days of Levels 5 and 4. 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for another beautiful 23C day, another sunny beach day in Camps Bay, the traffic snaking through from the Hout Bay side; for a morning coffee/tea and croissant meet with Lynne Gordon at Maison J, sitting in the sun across the road, and for meeting her friend Tourist Guide and Uber driver Brandon Platt, whom I had wanted to meet, only knowing him from Facebook; for two further Camps Bay walks, one a shopping one, mainly for cat food, and because I forgot the packet at Absolute Pets from talking too much, I had to go back again to fetch it, an easy way to gain more steps; for a peaceful rest at my favorite Bench at the Tidal Pool; for the Beethoven concert from Beethoven House in Bonn by Daniel Hope of Hope@Home on Tour, his very last one of 70 he has done during Lockdown, an amazing treat; for my Alex helping me to get my CV finalized, the first I’ve written in 30 years 😱; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →
