Sunday 29 November 2020, Day 70 of Level 1, Day 249 of Lockdown. 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a beauty of a day, at 26C; for being spoilt with a fabulous breakfast at The 41 restaurant by Emma Faquharson; for signing the release form for participating in the Carte Blanche program soon, possibly next Sunday, with a coffee visit by producer Michael Duffet; for sorting out a conflict between two of the Community Cleaners, luckily amicably; for spending an hour cleaning up on both sides of the Tidal Pool with Community Cleaners John and Carmen; for time for a Vit D snooze on the terrace, a blessing after a busy week; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙

In collaborating with The 41 on the Community Beach Cleans I have got to know Emma better, and she knows I love Dilmah’s Earl Grey tea, which they stock, getting spoilt by her regularly. Today she invited me for breakfast, both of us having their Eggs Benedict with prosciutto instead of bacon, beautifully presented. 🙏

It gave me an opportunity to check out an advertised Beach clean up for today by a nearby restaurant, weird given our clean up yesterday. I had only seen one notice for it. The restaurant staff knew nothing about the clean up, and no one else had arrived for it. They also offered a free coffee for each participant. Copying a good idea is the best form of flattery….. 😱

I felt unsure about my handling of the conflict which happened between the two Community Cleaners, but was happy that they spoke to each other again after I gave them a cooling-off break for 45 minutes. 😘😘

We found lots of litter between the rocks on both sides of the Tidal Pool this afternoon, and I’m teaching the Community Cleaners to spot bottles, paper, broken glass, food containers, and chips packets from a distance, and where the litter hotspots are.

I look forward to the Hope @ Home concert by Daniel Hope, live-streamed via Facebook from Berlin at 20h00 our time, to put me into a festive First Advent feeling, and will light a candle during the concert. 🕯⭐️🎄 (Lovely connections to South Africa in the concert – Daniel Hope was born in Durban, the pianist Ammiel Bushakevitz grew up in SA, and I’m listening from Cape Town) ❤️

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, and lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
