Saturday 31 October 2020, Day 41 of Level 1, Day 219 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Gratitude for another day of abundance; for a beautiful warm sunny day, the wind only picking up late this afternoon, and an even more special day lying ahead tomorrow; for a successful litter Beach Clean today, with 20 garbage bags filled, one team of two filling four bags, and winning our The 41 Restaurant prize for most litter collected; for receiving a pot of tea from The 41, with everyone else that participated; for Colleen de Villiers coming to visit, so that we could have lunch at Tindlovu Camps Bay, joined by George Sax for a short while; for saying ‘goodbye’ to Maison J, which is no more, becoming OK JA tomorrow, everything changing except the coffee and tea; for Colleen coming to my home, and I then walking her back to her car; for an amazing Discovery surprise; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Sunday 25 October 2020, Day 35 of Level 1, Day 213 of Lockdown. 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a little rain this morning, a surprise, which was not forecast, a wonderful excuse to stay in bed longer and watch more movies; for a walk to Clifton, happy to see the Traffic Department in action in stopping cars without number plates near Maiden’s Cove, and Law Enforcement ticketing cars without number plates and/or license discs, a rare sight in Camps Bay; for a pleasant always-friendly shop at Woolies; for a snooze on the terrace until it got too cold, a South Easter picking up; and for being happy and healthy. Saturday 17 October 2020, Day 27 of Level 1, Day 205 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a cooler yet sunny day; for a very relaxed peaceful day; for a late sleep in; for a walk in Camps Bay, with lots of litter to pick up; for Maison J keeping a croissant for me, until I could come to fetch it, they being busier on weekend days; for healthy shopping at the Woolies in Lifestyle on Kloof; for popping in at the Olive Branch Deli, having to wait in a queue as we did in Level 5, only 5 persons allowed inside at a time; for going to see ‘Made in Italy’ in the Labia Cinema, sadly my expectations of the movie not met; for dancing to the Kfm Blok Party; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Cape Town and Winelands Restaurant Closures slow down, a few have reopened, new restaurants are opening – October 2020.;

Slowly the Lockdown has become the new norm, and there is little reason for Restaurants to not be open and trading, despite the lack of tourists from overseas. The opening of the country’s International borders, albeit only as of 1 October, appears to have had little impact on the Restaurant industry to date.

On my latest Restaurant Closure list I have 73 Restaurants in Cape Town and the Winelands which have closed down, an increase of only 3 Restaurant Closures in the past month. Clarke’s and Dahlia on Regent announced their permanent closure, but have reopened. Continue reading →
