Corona Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for a me-catchup day, writing two blogposts for the week ahead, tidying up my desk and planning the work week ahead; for the most stunning summer day at 21C, and tomorrow will be even better; with beautiful wisps of clouds this afternoon; for an afternoon walk to Camps Bay’s Woolies and Pick n Pay, happy to see a former manager back at the latter and told that all the previous new managers have left the store again; for an invitation to the lovely home of Shubha Shuckla, let as Aquatic Villa, with a beautiful view over Camps Bay, the ocean, and the spectacular sunset tonight, spoilt with bubbly, cheese, bread, crackers and dips, and a chocolate and fruit ending; for the loud music of last night and tonight finishing off at 23h00 🙏; for Pick n Pay ASAP! App delivering the cat food this morning; and for being happy, healthy, and free. 🙏💙

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March 2020 and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December,  extended to 15 February on 11 January 2021, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, moved back to Adjusted Level 2 on 31 May, moved back to level 3 on 16 June, and moved back to Adjusted Level 4 on 28 June, extended by two weeks on 11 July, and returned to Level 3 on 26 July, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a day that didn’t go as planned at all, but was filled with highlights; for our Building Manager Henry coming for the day, doing a fantastic job of cleaning up and doing gardening, so lovely to see him again after 8 weeks of him being at home 🙏; for a very short and sweet Exercise Time, my shortest since 1 May; for going shopping at the Oranjezicht City Farm Organic Market with Shubha Shukla; for meeting Farmer Ian at the Oranjezicht Farm and learning so much from him about the underwater springs and their ’architectural’ style of gardening there; of reaching the milestone of 4000 members in the Facebook Restaurant Food Delivery Group; for returning to my beautiful clean apartment block, after Henry’s hard work; for taking Henry back to Wynberg, giving me an opportunity to have a look at Four&Twenty Café, now purely a Deli during Lockdown; for Miss Minsky 🐱 being delivered to me just as I got home, both of us excited yet very nervous 😱; for dancing far less than usual, having to give love to both Minsky 🐱 and KitKat 🐱; for going to bed early after a busy day; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for another beautiful day, even though only 18C officially but it felt like 22C or more; a wonderful Exercise Time walk, quite social in bumping into Martin and Razia Myers walking their dog, so we walked a part of the way together, and almost literally bumping into Shubha Shukla; for a week of excellent heart exertion walking with one exception, receiving 300 Discovery points for each 🙏; for a relaxed Saturday; for driving to the Waterfront to meet up with and celebrate the birthday yesterday of my longest-standing friend Jenny Stephens, from Sub A in Wellington onwards, with a fabulous birthday cake which Food by Kai, a member of the Restaurant Food Delivery Group, had made and delivered to us in the Waterfront; for KitKat popping in for a visit; for listening and dancing to the Top40 by Carl Wastie on Kfm, with so many SA songs on the list 👏; it being such a feel-good day; for my third day of doing 20000 steps; for being healthy and happy 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for such a special day, the highlight being to finally meet the very kind and generous Shuba in their lovely home in Camps Bay, the winner of the ADHARA extra virgin olive oil for her review of Masala Café in the Restaurant Food Delivery Group, and for being spoilt so in their home; for another beautiful 21 C day, with mist in the morning, and soft clouds in the day; for doing so well in coping with 7 weeks of Lockdown; for a good workout walk up to Fourth Beach in Exercise Time, earning 300 Discovery Vitality points after zero yesterday; for seeing a 50 year old birthday being celebrated on the Promenade, at the Thrones, with cake and all; for a lovely chat with Sherryl on the way home, she living close by, both of us living Solo and offering to look after each other when in need; for finishing my writing early today, having done most of it last night; for having a wonderful tan snooze on the terrace, not having slept much last night; for a good step count today, my highest since Lockdown; for a blood sugar reading of 5,1; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →
