Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a fabulous day that just got better and better, ending off on a high note; for a lovely warm day with little wind, although the mountains were covered in clouds; for a brisk walk to Clifton, earning 300 Discovery points, being less stressed about mask-wearing as there were fewer walkers about; for a longer than planned Skype meeting with a representative of my Canadian Tour Guiding company based in India, talking about the company’s marketing and Social Media, which I will assist them with, and writing Cape Town content too; for my two poppy seed rolls waiting for me at Dinkel Bakery; for being healthy enough to donate blood; for a good status meeting with my client over lunch, I having a healthy delicious Caprese Salad; for a long-overdue session with my podiatrist; for popping in at the WCafĂ© at Woolies in Sea Point for a juice; for being spoilt when I went to see George Sax at the new Kloof Street Hotel; for being thoroughly spoilt by Gary Peterson and Thomas, as well as by the new Ă«lgr, the restaurant with the most difficult name in Cape Town, meaning ‘moose’; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Saturday 16 January 2021, Day 20 of Level 3 Adjusted, Day 297 of Lockdown đŸ˜·

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a beautiful day after rain overnight, warming up to 23C; for a fragmented sleep of three parts, not enough in total; for a very very long Telegram call of advice with a local, helping me with an issue I’ve been dealing with this week, the quality of the call being excellent, with no reconnections like on What’s App, my first one; for a walk up to Clifton 4th Beach, scoring 200 Discovery points; for a one hour Skype Committee session with my Canadian tour operator, so grateful to be part of this, and seeing a training video they have created for new tourist guides, in which I also feature; for a pop in at my client; for the Loadshedding scheduled for 14h00 not happening, as it would have affected the Skype call; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Tuesday 15 December 2020, Day 86 of Level 1, Day 265 of LockdownđŸ˜·

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a sunny day, at 21 C, with a South Easter building up, getting us ready for 10 days or more of wind; ïżŒfor being taken a step closer to my promising Horoscope for today, when a headhunter for a (different) German Amazon job did a telephonic interview with me; for the honour of being invited to join the international Tourist Guiding committee of my Canadian Tour Operator, having our first Skype meeting on Saturday; for a good walk through Camps Bay, with barely any litter; for a quick call with Jenny Stephens; for a winetasting followed by a cocktail tasting at Utopia, so happy to hear that they are fully booked tonight, so much so that Vivian Warby and I couldn’t get a table for tonight, booking for next week instead; for dancing to Kfm’s Dansdag; and for being happy and healthy. Restaurant Review: Greenhouse restaurant turns over a new leaf, reinvents itself!

imageAfter four years at Cellars-Hohenhort, the Greenhouse has completely transformed itself by changing its decor and menu, only the floor remaining the same!

How brave yet exciting it must have been to remove every decor item (including the ceramic bunnies), all the crockery and cutlery, the glassware, the menu covers, the placemats, the waiter uniforms, the tables and chairs, the lamps and lighting, and anything else that had gone before, Continue reading →
