Wednesday 10 June 2020, Day 10 of Level 3, after 66 days of Levels 5 and 4. 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for all the wonderful rain that has been falling since midnight, with more to come, it not yet being very cold, but that is likely to come tomorrow; for a two-hour window of sunshine over lunchtime, which gave me a sunny walk in my shorts and short sleeve top; for a quick visit to Pick n Pay on my way home; for being so up to date with my work that I could allow myself a cosy afternoon watching my favorite ZDF Traumschiff series, the episode being about the UAE; for exceeding 600 Restaurants in the Food and Alcohol Delivery & Collection Facebook Group, with more than 4600 members; for a Bakoven walk with a short sunshine gap but then splashed with rain… ☔️; for dancing the rest of my steps to Kfm; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Four young chefs from Africa/Middle East go through to the global S.Pellegrino Young Chef Grand Finale in Milan in 2020, three from SA!

In a surprise announcement, not only one but four finalists in the Africa and Middle East region of the S. Pellegrino Young Chef Regional Semi-Final held in Cape Town on Monday, will be sent to Milan for the Grand Finale in May next year. But only one of the four young chefs will compete for the Global title of S. Pellegrino Young Chef 2020, being Chef Paul Thinus Prinsloo of The Restaurant at Waterkloof. Continue reading →

*  The New York Times has listed Cape Town as its number one ‘52 Places to go in 2014′.  Cape Town is linked to the late Nelson Mandela, and how Table Mountain was his beacon of hope. World Design Capital 2014 is also highlighted.  ‘Cape Town is again reinventing itself, and the world is invited to its renaissance’.  The other top ten Places to Go are Christchurch, North Coast in California, Albanian coast, Downtown Los Angeles, Namibia, Ecuador, Quang Binh in Vietnam, Perth, and Rotterdam.

*   In a surprise move, the City of Cape Town and Golden Arrow Bus Services have signed two memorandums of understanding, agreeing to work together, in the bus company will form part of the MyCiTi Bus service, utilising the City’s bus company branding, and having a common integrated schedule.  In the past the Golden Arrow Bus Services has taken the City of Cape Town to court.

*   An American property site’s vacation page recommends Cape Town as one of ten destinations around the world in which to celebrate Mother’s Day!  In Cape Town they recommend going up Table Mountain, visiting the V&A Waterfront, Cape Point, having a picnic on the False Bay coastline, and having dinner at any of the city’s ‘great Continue reading →
