Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for another beautiful summer day, the berg wind giving it away that rain is on the way for the weekend; for finishing an unplanned but hot story last night, which gave me some extra snoozing time this morning; for seeing my dearest friend Stuart Bailey for the first time in 85 days, driving to Stellenbosch together for a meeting, with a long catch-up time, even though we chat on the phone regularly; for receiving a message from Sportsman’s Warehouse that my repaired FitBit was ready for collection, at no charge; to buy beautiful cheeses and preserves at Dalewood Fromage on our way home, the first time in more than three months❤️❤️❤️; for collecting my favorite of favorite Tiramisu dessert treat from Janse at Home at Janse & Co…. mmmmm; for finding three multipacks of Smarties outside my door when I got home, sent to me by Charlotte from Knysna by Woolworths ❤️❤️❤️; for having time for a quick walk when I got home, with the most magnificent sunset; for dancing the rest of my steps of the day; and for feeling happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

The Auction Showcase is in preparation of the Cape Winemakers Guild Auction, which takes place at Spier on Saturday 29 September. It was impossible to taste all 44 winemakers’ wines, so I have reported on those wines I tasted and the winemakers I spoke to. Talk of the Showcase was the resignation of three senior members of the Guild.

New Webb Ellis blend reflects past, present, and future of Neil Ellis Wines!

Neil Ellis Webb Ellis Main shot flat 2010Neil Ellis Wines is launching a Webb Ellis wine to reflect the role of Neil Ellis’ family in the success of his forty-year wine-making history.

Having set up the Neil Ellis Wines brand in his own name over the past 40 years, Neil Ellis has now incorporated his son Warren into the business, as winemaker and as viticulturist.

To recognize the broader family role in the making of Neil Ellis wines, a Webb Ellis wine has been launched, recognizing the past, present, and future of the wine brand. The name Ellis has been added, acknowledging the role of his wife Stephanie (whose maiden name is Webb) in Neil’s journey, and being his pillar of support in it.  All three their children are involved in the business, with Charl handling accounts, and Continue reading →
