From this coming Friday, The Slick Group fires up five of its restaurant brands, to offer a Food Delivery Service from its Lockdown kitchen premises at 70 New Church Street In Cape Town. No alohol sales will be offered. Food Collection and urther restaurant brands are expected to be added to the Lockdown Food offering of the Group.

I had a long chat with Ian Halfon, CEO of The Slick Group, a respected restaurateur, and long-standing Waterfront tenant, with all his restaurants in the centre. He provided details of his company’s entry into the Food Delivery market as of Friday 12 June:

1.  Delivery will be done by Uber Eats and Mr D initially. Over time they plan to use existing staff to deliver too. Food Collection will be introduced shortly.

2.  A new Lockdown website will be completed

3.  Orders can be placed by What’s App from next week onwards

4.  Prices have not been inflated, Halfon emphasised, in fact they are looking to offer quality and competitive prices, offering customers value for money

5.  HYGIENE and FOOD SAFETY are at the top of their priority list, and Halfon told me that they have 30 Covid-19 hygiene safety signs up in their Food preparation and dispatch area, in their Covid-19 care operations protocol. Each food item is sealed for extra hygiene safety.

 

6.  The five restaurant brands opening on Friday are the following:

#  Balducci’s, the flagship brand, operating for 26 years already. Favorites will be offered, and over time they will add dishes from their Vegan Menu, and from the Asian and Noodle Bar Menu. Foods offered include pizzas, pasta, salads, Vegan dishes, and winglets.

#   Gibson’s Gourmet Burgers, with a selection of eight burgers, as well as ribs and Handspun Shakes

#   Pizzaway, a selection of six pizzas on offer

#   WhattaBurger, a selection of five 130g beef burgers

#   Wings & Things, offering various chicken wings, winglets, and drumstick options.

 

7.  Other brands to be introduced in stages are the following:

#.  Ranoush Lebanese Mezze
#.  Balducci chilled and frozen foods
#.  Red Radish Vegan
#.  Two surprise new  brands
