Friday 8 January 2021, Day 11 of Level 3 Adjusted, Day 289 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a warm 27C day, for the wind blowing gently almost day; for a morning Camps Bay walk, taking my cleaning team to a new area for us, the Little Glen, in which I haven’t been since Alex finished Primary School in Camps Bay, and went to Scouts in the Hall nearby, happy that there was so little litter, a good uphill energetic walk giving me 200 Miles; for a good working morning thereafter; for a peaceful afternoon at home, having almost reached my step goal; for enjoying my terrace; and for being happy and healthy.🙏💙

My Sweet Service Award went to Hope @ Home and its violinist Daniel Hope in Berlin, for the fantastic music concerts he treated us to via Live stream. The Sour Service Award went to Discovery and its Medical Health and Insure divisions.

The Little Glen has had homeless persons living there, leaving litter, but looked pristine today, probably because the gates to the Nature Reserve are locked at night. We did some hiking on its paths. I was a bit nervous about reptiles crossing our path, especially as I walked upfront. But all was good. We came across a picnic birthday party for a one year old in the park, at a lovely picnic area. Such friendly people, the grandmother remembering me from La Parada Constantia Nek… 💃💃💃

To get to the Little Glen we had to walk up the Houghton Steps, linking Victoria Road and Camps Bay Drive, the greatest number of steps on any walkway in Camps Bay, used by local exercisers. A real huff and puff challenge, but perfect for my heart rate. I’m changing my exercise routine, having learnt that I can easily get 200 Miles from Discovery if I do a good one hour walk compared to two 4000 step walks. Walking this morning helped me to escape the wind of this afternoon.

I’m hearing of so many acquaintances being ill, with Covid and other ailments, and wish everyone a safe and healthy weekend. 😷❤️ I read today that one in 30 Londoners has Covid now. 😱

SA Corona Status 1 192 570 cases 32425 deaths 😷😥

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
