Saturday 3 October 2020, Day 13 of Level 1, Day 191 of Lockdown 😷
Corona Gratitude 🙏
#Grateful for a near perfect weather day, after what we have been through this week, with only a slight breeze, at 22C; for a peaceful first walk through Camps Bay, with a Pick n Pay shop, spending my Discovery voucher on cat food in the main; for a lovely Vit D snooze on the terrace; for a surprise visit from Anne Marie von Tielmann and her son, whom I hadn’t seen since the beginning of the year, seeing her when she walked past while I was dressing Maya in a new Sarong; for a crazy second Camps Bay walk; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙
My goal for today was to pick up the shattered glass on the Victoria Road pavement, gutter, and path. I expected a busy beach day due to the good weather, and wanted it to be safe for beachgoers. The homeless cleaner Michael was there too, he picking up the pieces in the gutter and I doing the rest. The glass was cutting my blue Council bags, so I created a pile of the glass pieces. A surprise was that they came down from a top story apartment terrace on Camps Bay Drive 😱🥵. I was angry when I saw a Council garbage truck drive past and stop close by, running after them to request them to pick up the pile of glass, but they refused! 🥵
My second late afternoon walk was pure chaos. It started at the Tidal Pool, where a young person was stabbed, an issue about a cellphone between African and Coloured gangs leading to this. I’ve never seen a local security company person walk around with a rifle, to sort this out.
It got worse. All of a sudden it felt like 1 January, hordes of taxis and visitors to Camps Bay, music in the taxis on full blast, and persons dancing on the pavement, very inebriated, with bottles of gin and beer on the lawns, which I threw away. In a panic I contacted Councillor Nicola Jowell, but she had heard about the problem and had already called Law Enforcement. She also told me that the same problems were happening in Clifton and at Maiden’s Cove 😱. The police has done nothing. 🥵🥵🥵 I can still see blue lights flashing across the bay, at Maidens Cove and below the High School. Camps Bay was out of control this afternoon. 🥵🥵🥵
Emirates cancelling flights to Cape Town very bad news. (But ‘United Emirates’ is a Red Lust’ country).
Emirates cancelling SA flights immediately due to crew entry requirements
SA Corona Status 679716 cases 16938 deaths 😷😢

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, and lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
