Friday 10 April 2020, Day 26 of SA Corona Virus, Day 15 of SA Lockdown š·
Corona Gratitude š
#Grateful for such a gooood Good Friday; for another beautiful sunny day at 22C; for dancing/walking around my home to Kfm; for how little money Iāve spent this month so far; for the friendly locals walking past to shop, all greeting; to have such a fabulous home and view to be Lockdowned in; and for feeling fit, happy, and healthy. šš
I donāt have much of a routine, except to write in the mornings. This morning it felt like weekend, and I forgot to finish my Sweet & Sour Service Blogpost before midday, my Blog cut-off time. By the time I remembered, it was past midday. I posted it anyway, and my subscribers will receive it tomorrow.
One routine Iāve always had is to wash my hair twice a week, linked to my dancing evenings. Now every day feels the same, and no one sees me dance in my home, so I needed a hair wash, and did so in honour of the Easter weekend. What a lift it gave me, sun drying it on the terrace.
My dance music was on so loud that I didnāt hear Haakon and Thomas BauerkƤmper walking past and calling me, but they persevered, and then I heard them. We had a lovely catch-up chat across Victoria Road, just loving this beautiful day. Lovely chats to Stuart Bailey and Martin Koch this afternoon.
Iām enjoying sitting down to eat, away from my desk, having had a bad habit of eating while writing. I made a second batch of Bircherās Müsli today. Healthy and delicious. No…… Iām not going to bake Banana Bread anytime soon…. š·š
I enjoyed seeing a documentary last night on German TV station ZDF about the very young Belgian founder of the Orient Express in 1883, running from Paris to Vienna, and then extended to Constantinople (now Istanbul). It closed down in 2009. I travelled on it with my baby sister Bettina in winter many moons ago, and the heating didnāt work. A trip weāll never forget. š±
For anyone wanting to hear something different, find The Kiffness on Facebook or Instagram, to listen to Corona parodies of well-known songs, by David Scott. Hilarious. I love āQuarantine Queenā (āDancing Queenā) the most. ā¤ļø
I have 20 days left to do admin and writing tasks before the end of Lockdown Round 2, having treated the first two weeks of Lockdown as a fabulous holiday. So Iāve done a list of what must be done, and today was Accounting day. I loved seeing how economical Lockdown is for me, with barely any spending except for food and debit orders, but of course no income either. So that made it a gooood day. ā¤ļø And I saw that Discovery Vitality gifted me R62 two days ago, not sure why as they usually pay out for healthy food purchases at month end.
Iāve noticed that Discovery Vitality doesnāt give me any points when I do a good Cardio workout in my dancing/walking. I received zero points for the 16000 steps I did yesterday, because I did 47 minutes of Cardio, and my quota for 30 minutes or longer at 60 – 69% of oneās maximum heart rate for the year is full up. So today Iāve tried to dance and walk in 1000 step intervals, and less vigorously than I usually do, to keep the Cardio under 30 minutes, whilst still exceeding 10000 steps. Letās see if it works. š£ ( just checked, I already have todayās 100 points š)
Thinking of my mother today, for whom this was the most serious and somber day in the year, wearing black, and cooking fish for us. So I wore black in her honour today, but exercise-related. Iāve promised myself a dress for Sunday, living in my Lockdown shorts up to now.
SA Corona Status: 2003 cases, 24 deaths š·šŖ

The Corona Virus Lockdown, announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier this week to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
