Corona Gratitude 🙏
#grateful for another wonderful day, starting early, so that I could fit in all my work into the morning; for a Bakoven walk; for productive meetings with newkings boutique hotel and Zest; for a quick shop at Woolies in Piazza da Luz; for a lovely outing to Hout Bay with Gary Peterson, invited to attend the preview of Vida Nova Retreat in Hout Bay, a hotel, spa, an indoor and outdoor bar, restaurant, pool, the facilities open to use by locals and hotel guests, invited by Kirsten Reyneke, loving her organizing us each a foot massage at the Spa…… 👏 ; for a quick walk on the beach near Dunes to catch the sunset; for a lovely impromptu dinner at Mexicola Locale when Relish was closed, sitting very close to the fireplace on what had become a chilly evening; and for being happy, healthy and free. 🙏💙
My Blogpost today was about the 2021 World Culinary Awards, and some leading restaurants in Cape Town such as Utopia, Himitsu, and Chefs Warehouse Tintswalo Atlantic being in the Best of Africa Finals. We would be so grateful for your Uropia votes. 🙏🙏🙏

Vida Nova, meaning a new life, will have a new Restaurant The Green Orchid opening, currently with Chef Devin Hogan, previously with The Test Kitchen and SMAK, consulting with the Restaurant. I lost track of the Canapés we were served, with very friendly service. It was wonderful to see the lively Tamsyn Snyman there too.
At Mexicola Locale I found the Taco portions tiny. But we loved the toasted Churro waffle with chocolate sauce… mmmm. We completely forgot to photograph it. 😱
Gary had tea when we got back to Camps Bay, and I transformed some of his Discovery points into shopping vouchers. 💙

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March 2020 and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December, extended to 15 February on 11 January 2021, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, moved back to Adjusted Level 2 on 31 May, moved back to level 3 on 16 June, and moved back to Adjusted Level 4 on 28 June, extended by two weeks on 11 July, returned to Level 3 on 26 July, and returned to Level 2 on 13 September, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
