#grateful for another wonderful day, starting early, so that I could fit in all my work into the morning; for a Bakoven walk; for productive meetings with newkings boutique hotel and Zest; for a quick shop at Woolies in Piazza da Luz; for a lovely outing to Hout Bay with Gary Peterson, invited to attend the preview of Vida Nova Retreat in Hout Bay, a hotel, spa, an indoor and outdoor bar, restaurant, pool, the facilities open to use by locals and hotel guests, invited by Kirsten Reyneke, loving her organizing us each a foot massage at the Spa…… šŸ‘ ; for a quick walk on the beach near Continue reading →

Restaurants in Lockdown: some have closed down, others have moved towards Food Delivery & Collection, and Alcohol Sales, as Restaurant Sit-Down remains prohibited, June 2020.

 

While a few restaurants already announced their closure at the beginning of March, when the COVID-19 Virus Lockdown had not yet been announced, a flood of restaurant closures is expected when restaurants are allowed to reopen to the public in Level 1 again, at an unannounced date in the future.

An exciting start on the first day of Level 3 today is that Restaurants may offer a Food Collection service from their outlets. In addition, they may offer sealed bottles of alcoholic beverages for sale too, if they have a liquor license, enabling them to make some profit after two months of little trade. Corona Virus Lockdown takes its first casualties before Restaurants are allowed to open to the public again! May 2020

 

While a few restaurants already announced their closure at the beginning of March, when the COVID-19 Virus Lockdown had not yet been announced, a flood of restaurant closures is expected when restaurants are allowed to reopen to the public in Level 1 again, at an unannounced date in the future.

A shock closure announced by Chef Luke Dale Roberts during Lockdown Level 5 was that of The Shortmarket Club, and with it neighboring The Commissary. SMAK Delicatessen and Eatery on Bree Street, La Bottega in Woodstock, Empire Cafe in Muizenberg, Buitenverwachting Restaurant (under the guidance of Chef Edgar Osojnik for the past 20 years), and Mariner’s Wharf in Hout Bay have also thrown in the towel.

Restaurant openings continue in Cape Town and Winelands, with some closures!

TheĀ imageflood of new restaurant openings continues, especially in Cape Town. Surprising was the closure yesterday of the three-month old Ranoushe Lebanese restaurant in the V&A Waterfront, the shortest restaurant duration we know of! Ā We update information about newly opened and closed restaurants continuously.
