Friday 18 June 2021, Day 3 of Level 3 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a glorious day, sunny again after the rain yesterday, so warm that I wore a sleeveless top; for getting most of my work done early this morning so that I could get to Somerset Hospital by 10h00ish, for my vaccination; for celebrating the vaccination with a tea and apple tart treat at Labotessa, spoilt rotten there with a gift of their lovely French shampoo and conditioner; for a shop pop in at Fideli’s Deli; for getting into Home Affairs easily but a wasted effort 😱; for an energetic walk in my secret Bakoven lanes; and for being happy, healthy and free. 🙏💙

The Sweet Service Award went to Dinkel Bakery, and the Sour Service Award to EbbTide apartment 201 belonging to Sacha Jack!

The hardest part of the vaccination outing was finding the right entrance to the hospital. I was obviously not on their list as I had not received a call, and was welcomed as a walk-in. The Covid protocol followed, my ID book was requested, and each time we sat on seats single file and well spaced. Instead of sitting I gained some steps by walking up and down the long corridors. Then it was my turn. The Sister asked me about my Covid tests (none done), and history of blood clotting and co-morbidities (none). Then a little prick and it was done. We had to sit in the same room for 5 minutes and then in one across the passage for 10 minutes, to check if there were no after-effects. Half an hour in total, and feeling fit and healthy.

I seem to have created a little storm amongst the under 60s. I have been told that there are always excess vaccines, and it is better to use them than to have to waste and dispose of them. 💉💉💉

Zest Restaurant received its signage today, in the hotel passage and in the Piazza da Luz above Tops. Every day is a step forward. The restaurant opens on Monday. ❤️💙🧡

I need a letter from Home Affairs to confirm that I have not applied for SA citizenship. I got in easily but was told that they do not do these during Lockdown! I need the letter to renew my German passport 😱😱😱

Happy Chenin Blanc Day today. 🥂

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December,  extended to 15 February on 11 January, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, moved back to Adjusted Level 2 on 31 May, and moved back to level 3 on 16 June, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
