Saturday 19 June 2021, Day 4 of Level 3 😷
Corona Gratitude 🙏
#grateful for another glorious day, back to summer for today and tomorrow, at 23C; for a perfect long sleep, and not feeling any vaccination side-effects; for a busy working morning; for experiencing day 1 of Zest Restaurant, its soft opening being a lunch event for a celebration, taking photographs and meeting more of the Zest team, so proud of how they handled it; for a Vit D shot on the terrace this afternoon; for a walk to the Camps Bay Tidal Pool, with a beautiful sunset; and for being happy, healthy, and free. 🙏💙
The Zest guests were served a set menu, oysters and salads to start, and then a choice of Norwegian Salmon or ribeye steak. The venue received its final touches with hanging plants, and the bar fully stocked. A huge display of vegetables and fruit at the kitchen counter represents the slogan of Zest: Local and Fresh is Best. I’m very proud of the whole team, there appearing to be no hiccups, not having worked together before. The music was vibey, everything just fell into place perfectly.
In fact things went so well today that Chef Pavel has decided to open the restaurant for Lunch and Dinner tomorrow already. 👏👏👏👏

A weird coincidence was meeting Evan there, a close friend of Barry Aaron, who has my KitKat. I asked him to give my cat a big hug and all my love. 😻
One of the mixologists has a manbun and bears a close resemblance to #bananaboy – oh boy, and equally charming. 😱

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December, extended to 15 February on 11 January, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, moved back to Adjusted Level 2 on 31 May, and moved back to level 3 on 16 June, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
