Saturday 25 April 2020, Day 41 of SA Corona Virus, Day 30 of SA Lockdown 😷
Corona Gratitude 🙏
#Grateful for a beautiful 26 C day, without a breath of wind; for receiving greater clarity about which businesses are allowed to operate, and which new restrictions lie ahead for us from 1 May; that outside exercise is allowed from next Friday; that I could do a shopping trip by car, only the second one in a month, with excellent service; for a lovely sunny Vit D snooze on the terrace this afternoon; for feeling good after a hair wash and wearing a dress for the shopping outing 😂; for dancing to Kfm; for feeling happy for the restaurant industry in being allowed to do Take-Away deliveries; and for feeling healthy and happy. 🙏💙
I had a lazy start to the day, watching the livestream about the new Level 4 businesses being allowed to operate, and new rules for us citizens, whilst still in my PJs, when Charlie the cat owner Barry Aaron drove past outside, looking for the cat. They could get to him via a side erf. Such a gorgeous friend to me, coming to visit regularly. 🐱
Our Minister Nokosozama Dlamini-Zuma was an embarrassment in her poor presentation of the new rules for Level 4, taking 90 minutes to talk/read the speech in English, and then repeating it in Zulu. 😱🥵 Minister Ebrahim Patel was a delight by contrast, when he finally could address us. A night curfew from next Friday, but we are all looking forward to hearing the exercise rules. Cigarette smokers can’t wait to buy their fix. And restaurants have an interesting decision to make in the next few days, as to whether they should open their restaurants for a Take-Away delivery service, when so many have turned their restaurants into charity community soup kitchens. I see a lot of complaints about the excessive fee by Uber Eats to restaurants at 30% of the meal cost. We might see an anti-Uber Eats revolution soon, with new delivery services opening up. I wrote the Blogpost about the new Level 4 regulations during the speeches and question time, being one of first to post the story.
Interesting to hear that the first Cuban doctors arrive in our country tomorrow. Chinese ones were said to be coming as well. 😱
We had to queue outside Olive Branch Deli, letting one client in for every two leaving. Heard the conversation of a client behind me, about how the regulations remind him of the Army, when one person’s misbehavior means that everybody gets punished. At The Point in Sea Point the queue into Checkers had just ended, clients being kept outside on the pavement, and I was assisted in finding a mosquito candle, being bitten alive at night. Scary when the cashier told me she isn’t feeling well. Not sure why she was at work. DisChem service efficient.
SA Corona Status: 4361 cases 86 deaths 😷😢

The Corona Virus Lockdown, announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier this week to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, and subsequently extended to 30 April, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
