Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a wonderful cool relaxed day, like winter, grey, misty and drizzly most of the day, with more rain to come; for Minsky coming back home in the early hours of the morning, having no regard for the Curfew 🙀; for amazing feedback about my Communications work for Utopia, three months after starting to work with the restaurant ❤️; for a lovely refreshing walk to Clifton and back, with minimal litter; for a very relaxed afternoon snoozing with Mr Grey next to me, and Minsky sleeping in the lounge; for achieving 7500 Discovery points/Miles in January, now having moved into Bronze; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙

My first career was that of a trend forecaster, and the book ‘The Popcorn Report’ dominated our planning. Author Faith Popcorn identified a number of trends, and the one which I never forgot was ‘Recareering’, the trend that people would have numerous careers in a lifetime. In the Seventies this was contrary to how things were done: starting at the bottom and working one’s way up the corporate ladder. My careers since have been Market Researcher, Marketing Lecturer, Market Research Consultant, PR Consultant, Guest House owner, and now Communications Consultant, with Tourist Guide as a sideline when Tourism recovers.

I was petrified that something had happened to Minsky, especially when I heard a cat scream late at night. She seldom comes in late.

Not only did Utopia receive the mega review from Nicolette Anderson, but there were two more today in the Cape Town Restaurants: Good, Bad & Nasty Restaurants Facebook Group. I can do nothing to achieve these reviews, it being pure luck that a guest posts in this very powerful group with so many members. A Bad/Nasty review can be devastating, again due to the number of members. My client is very happy. 👏👏👏

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December, and extended to 15 February on 11 January, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
