Corona Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for a day that just got better and better, starting with a 7 1/2 hour continuous sleep; for it being nice and warm at 19C, a tiny taste of summer after the cold weeks; for a hard-working morning preparing for two Status meetings; for a Bakoven walk; for two excellent meetings, at Newkings Boutique Hotel and at Zest; for being able to get a gap at my dentist to fix my implant, which came loose again, without being charged ❤️; for a visit to Chocolate by Tomes in the Waterfront mmmm ❤️; for a surprise letter from the City of Cape Town, announcing that I’m one of three Camps Bay residents due to receive a Civic Award in October ❤️; for a spontaneous call from Gary Peterson, volunteering to join me at the award ceremony 💙; for a tasting and photography of Anatoli’s brand new 5-course Tasting Menu at R195, excellent value❤️; for Colleen Stolzman arriving at Anatoli, I not knowing her, but she recognizing me for my cleaning work in Camps Bay, celebrating her 60th birthday with dinner with her family, she contributing to the community by planting trees alongside pavements 👏; and for being happy, healthy, and free. 🙏💙

The letter from the City of Cape Town moved me greatly, I feeling very tearful when I read this:

‘ Good day All

In terms of the guidelines reflected in the Policy relating to the Conferment of Civic Honours, a Subcouncil may decide to award certificates for outstanding service to proposed nominees.

Your ward councillor (Nicola Jowell – Ward 54), recognised your outstanding service rendered to your community and nominated you for a Civic Award. The certificate will be presented at a special ceremony during October 21.

Oh my, I feel like the Cleaning Queen of Camps Bay now 😂😂😂. Alan and Theresa are very involved with the homeless persons, and started the Community Steward Car Guard  scheme with them in Camps Bay.

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March 2020 and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December,  extended to 15 February on 11 January 2021, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, moved back to Adjusted Level 2 on 31 May, moved back to level 3 on 16 June, and moved back to Adjusted Level 4 on 28 June, extended by two weeks on 11 July, and returned to Level 3 on 26 July, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
