Friday 30 July 2021, Day 5 of Level 3 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for a beautiful 19C sunny day and even better weather lying ahead for this weekend ; for an early start to the day, getting all my work finished by 9h30; for a lovely breakfast with Gary Peterson at Zest Restaurant, thoroughly spoilt by our waitron Josie Milner, and looked after by Manager Micaela Luke; for a good meeting to go through the newkings hotel newsletter copy, due to be sent out next week; for my second vaccination 💉, going to Somerset Hospital instead of to CTICC, where I was booked, meeting a lovely Camps Bay resident, she recognizing me, the two of us chatting for the whole hour, as we musical chaired our way through the process; for a celebratory stop at Labotessa Hotel, disappointed with the pumpkin soup to which Tabasco had been added, too hot, but a good croissant after, being reminded that I should only stick to their apple tart; for a walk to the Tidal Pool, finding another wave to photograph but not as grand as that of yesterday; for the landscaping and parking at Peter Toerien’s Theatre on the Bay finally completed today, after about 2 years; and for being happy, healthy and free. 🙏💙

Zest Restaurant at the newkings boutique hotel reopened on Wednesday, and now also serves breakfast. Gary had the full Zest Breakfast treat while I had Eggs Benedict with spinach. We were spoilt with Smoothies, and I with an orange juice too. Everything is freshly squeezed and juiced, nothing arriving in the restaurant in bottles 🍎🍏🍍🍊🥚🍳🍮.

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March 2020 and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December,  extended to 15 February on 11 January 2021, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, moved back to Adjusted Level 2 on 31 May, moved back to level 3 on 16 June, and moved back to Adjusted Level 4 on 28 June, extended by two weeks on 11 July, and returned to Level 3 on 26 July, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
