Corona Gratitude 🙏
#grateful for a lovely relaxed day, after an unbroken sleep of six hours 💙; for a Social Media morning; for putting my civic duty of cleaning a specific litter hotspot in Camps Bay ahead of my steps and points quest, being helped by Learner Marc from Bakoven; for a lovely dinner at Utopia with Tania Harrison, watching the sun set, meeting interesting diners, and being entertained by George Sax 🎷; for a pop-in glass of wine and belly dancing 💃 at Anatoli; for my cats being happy to have me back home 😻😻; and for being happy, healthy and free.
I was alerted by a resident that there was a tree alongside the SAPS parking area, which appeared to have become a litter dumping ground. Very kindly Marc came to help me, he looking shocked at how much Litter there was. He had never seen so much of it in one space. In less than an hour we filled 11 Council garbage bags with the oddest litter: shoes (none a pair), writing books, plastic containers, empty bottles, cardboard boxes, one flipper, a lilo, food packaging, and more. It must have been a homeless home, but there was no sleeping bedding visible. We both felt close to sick picking this all up. 😱 I have a similar litter hotspot waiting for me on Camps Bay Drive tomorrow 😱😡
I fetched Tania and introduced her to Utopia for the first time. She loved the view and the Tasting Menu. We met two lovely ladies at the neighbouring table, Nadia Meyer and Louw, who drove all the way from Worcester to dine at Utopia. Nadia has been to almost every top Restaurant in Cape Town and the Winelands, and showed me all her Restaurant pics, calling herself a foodie. We exchanged Instagram and Blog details. They think nothing of driving to Cape Town for dinner and then driving home again. Tania lodged a ‘complaint’ with the GM of Utopia for the Tasting Menu price being so ridiculously low. 😱💙

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December, extended to 15 February on 11 January, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
