Monday 4 January 2020, Day 7 of Adjusted Level 3, Day 285 of Lockdown. 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a beautiful 29C day, the wind picking up late this afternoon; for the Fire Department extinguishing a third fire in four days near the Kramat outside Bakoven; for a busy working morning; for an attempt at sleeping this afternoon; for a walk to Bakoven, which had little litter, and to Camps Bay, which had signs of persons eating and drinking on the lawns, just leaving their empties when finished 😱; for fabulous service from Pick n Pay Manager Odwa, inviting me to a special faster counter so that I could pay my City of Cape Town account; for my first 1000 Discovery Miles of 2021…. 49000 to go; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙

Today’s Blogpost was about the impact which the Level 3 regulations are having, 8 restaurants having closed (temporarily?) in the past week. The restaurants are suffering badly. In total, 66 new restaurants have opened, and 89 restaurants have closed permanently in the past 9 months of Lockdown. 😢

More Restaurants closing, some temporarily, due to new Adjusted Level 3 Lockdown: January 2021

Today the mask-wearing percentage dropped significantly to about 30%, more homeless persons hanging around and the Malawian ‘Art’ vendors being back from their Festive Season holidays. They are so rude, telling me to go back to my Homeland, as Africa is for Africans. No Law Enforcement officers visible today, and hence the masks have come down. I feel like an air hostess, telling the passengers to put their masks firmly over nose and mouth…… I do like that people driving or walking past cheer me on…. 😷😢😂

Minsky is an early bird and my new alarm clock 😱, waking up at about 6h00, and comes to talk to me about letting her outside. That’s the end of my sleep! 😿😻

Kfm seems to be on auto pilot since 19h00, not sure which is worse: no DJ as now with dreadful falling-asleep music, or DJ Brandon Leigh 😱

SA Corona Status 1113349 cases 30011 deaths 😷😢

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
