Sweet Service Award goes to BP President; Sour Service Award goes to Pick n Pay Camps Bay!

The Sweet Service Award goes to BP President petrol station in Sea Point, and its attendant Michael. Since switching to Discovery Insure last year, I have been filling up at this petrol station, and had the luck to be served by Michael on that day. Since then I have always requested him. Yesterday I went to do my monthly fuel up, and he proactively checked the oil and water, washed all four windows plus the windscreen, checked the tyres, and even found a little top for one of the tyres which an attendant at a Camps Bay garage had forgotten to put back on.  What a pleasure to see and tip him each time. Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 1 of Level 1, 1 March 2021.

Monday 1 March 2021, Day 1 of Level 1, Day 341 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for having a relaxed day; for having written my Blogpost for today last night after the President’s Speech; for a few drops of rain after thunder in the distance; for Henry helping me buy my first airtime/data via the Vodacom App, much cheaper than buying it via my Standard Bank App; for a walk through Bakoven, looking for a spade which Imtiaz had left at the public toilets 😱; for an afternoon snooze, still needing to catch up on weekend sleep; for a walk to Camps Bay to collect my Maverick 168 which Odwa had kept for me, not having more energy than walking as far as Mynt, picking up lots of litter left over from yesterday; for the wow 500 Discovery points I earned nevertheless, 15400 points so far this year, perhaps getting far more speed in my new Adidas shoes; for a catch up sunset snack chat on my terrace with Jenny Stephens; for my Bestie Llewellyn registering the website address www.whaletalesblog.com for me; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Sunday 28 February 2021, Day 65 of Level 3 Adjusted, Day 340 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a total of 9 hours of sleep since last night, in three sessions, obviously needing a catch up after yesterday’s sleep deficiency; for the terrible muscle pain behind my left knee having gone 💙; for Imtiaz returning to work; for seeing Barbara Lenhard for a very short while when she came to fetch her car from my garage; for an afternoon cleanup at the Tidal Pool but beyond the capability of Imtiaz and I; for finally washing my dishes from Wednesday, despite having a never-used dishwasher 😱; for the most beautiful peace in our building today, with the lift barely used, the silence feeling loud… ; for happily kissing my Vodacom contract goodbye; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 42 of Level 3 Adjusted, 6 February 2021.

Saturday 6 February 2021, Day 42 of Level 3 Adjusted, Day 318 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a lovely 26C day, with little wind; for a slow lazy start to the day; for an energetic walk to Clifton and back (earning 300 Discovery points), with the beach and picnic areas packed, almost as busy as on public holidays and many walkers between Camps Bay and Clifton, the fewest wearing masks at all or correctly; for a lovely chat and water stop at The 41 with Emma and Marius Blanc, the Restaurant having reopened three days ago; for getting my Daily Maverick 168 at Pick n Pay via Odwa, not having to stand in the queue outside the store; for a little afternoon snooze; for the most amazing review of Utopia Cape Town on the Good, Bad & Nasty Facebook page 👏; for trying my best to clean up at the Tidal Pool, having asked Camps Bay residents to assist me during our Loadshedding starting at 18h00, but no one came, yet there was a sweet young boy who picked up the litter in the stream for me 💙; for bumping into Ashleigh Fleming and Dirk; for a call with Gary Peterson; for a call with my Alex earlier in the day; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →
