Sunday 27 September 2020, International Tourism Day, Day 7 of Level 1, Day 185 of Lockdown 😷
Corona Gratitude 🙏
#Grateful for a sunny day, feeling much warmer even if it was only 16C max; I was excited that Vivian Warby agreed to meet for tea, so we chose Firefly Café, it becoming a breakfast, with lots of catching up 💙; for walking up to Clifton to clear up around a bin below Camps Bay High School which was surrounded with litter when I drove past it yesterday, but a dear angel had tidied up most of it already, so I picked up the litter remains; for Camps Bay being nice and busy, visitors clearly loving sitting in the sun of the restaurants on the strip; for a sun snooze on the terrace; for a walk through Bakoven; and for being happy and healthy.
The news about the earthquake is interesting, it now appearing that a 2,5 earthquake with its epicenter in Malmesbury made the Cape shake last night, with after-shocks today. No wonder the Northern Suburbs felt it more that we did in Camps Bay and in other areas. It was a busy 24 hours with hundreds of earthquakes around the world. 😱
We received excellent service at Firefly Café, my last chat to the owner making a huge difference. Viv ordered a chick pea flat bread and I a croissant.
My walk to Bakoven was eventful. I found a cat in the neighbouring property, very relaxed in allowing me to stroke it. I’ve posted a photograph in a Bakoven Facebook Group. Then I saw a car with an odd car registration plate, missing the provincial details, and it had no license disk, parked outside an apartment block where a party was in the making. The driver of the car seemed suspicious of me photographing his car, so he drove it inside the apartment garage. I reported it to the powers that be.
When I got home our Residents Group Whats App informed that a party is happening in another Camps Bay property, with another collection of about seven fancy vehicles, none with number plates. I recognized the address as that of a friend who lives in Germany, who rents out the house. She is very worried, so I am trying to assist her.

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, and lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
