Saturday 26 September 2020, Day 6 of Level 1, Day 184 of Lockdown 😷
Corona Gratitude 🙏
#Grateful for a weather transformation from rain and cold this morning to sunny and warmer this afternoon, accompanied by a mood lift; for a later lie-in, until I had to leave for Sea Point, with a number of chores and treats; for a Vit D dose and doze on my terrace; for a refreshing late afternoon walk in Camps Bay, sounding like one continuous Disco from the Hard Rock Café down to Mynt, with Tiger’s Milk the busiest of them all; for dancing to the Kfm Blok Party; for seeing so many 💙 clouds today; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙
I dropped off bedding at my Sea Point laundry. I went to PnP Clothing to return one of my recent purchases, one not being allowed to try on any clothes in their cubicles. Excellent service in receiving my refund quickly and efficiently.
I wanted to try a new coffee shop in Sea Point but landed up popping in at the Piazza St John. I saw a brand new shop, the Sadhu Deli, specializing in Italian cheeses, vegan and botanical foods, Indian spices, and prepared Italian foods, an interesting mix. I bought Labneh there, which I love, and rarely see. I saw that the Woolies WCafé has reopened (last week), so had tea and a scone there, having half an hour to spare. The Manager was very strict in his COVID communication, showing me a chart of about 20 symptoms, asking me if I had any. Then he led me to a table and gave me a lecture about social distancing, making it sound like I should not move from my seat so that I don’t get close to anyone else. I got a shock, not having heard anything so strict and overzealous before. What he tried to say is that every second table has a reserved sign and has no chairs, so that there is 50% usage of their capacity. I know the Manager from the Waterfront Branch so well, and he is always fabulous and kind, but today he scared me. Quite off-putting, to be exact. No temperature taken. 😱
It was almost three months since my last appointment at The Hair Co, so I showed Isabella Page Morgan a photograph of two years ago, with a shorter cut, asking her to do a similar one. A colour catch up too. A relaxed two hours in the salon. 🙏💙
After a fruit and vegetable shop at the Sea Point Woolies and Pick n Pay Camps Bay, I was back at home. I’m happy to have found my Smart Card, being able to get the brand new first edition Daily Maverick 168 newspaper for free and buy two punnets of strawberries for R50.
As soon as the sun goes down it gets chilly, today’s maximum temperature only being 15C, and more of the same tomorrow.
So happy to hear from birthday girl Tracey Blom that the Theewaterskloof Dam is overflowing, she thinks the first time ever. 👏👏👏
Oh my, what is next: an underwater earthquake 6.2 magnitude 1600 km off Cape Town.😱 No tsunami danger.
SA Corona Status 669498 cases 16376 deaths 😷😢
FitBit 12000 steps 8,5 km 👣

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, and lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
